Likes

The teachers are highly qualified and knowledgeable in their respective fields.
Attendance policies are generally lenient, providing flexibility. However, attending classes is beneficial, particularly for core subjects

Dislikes

The campus is situated in a somewhat inconvenient location, with no nearby bus stops.
The Salt Lake campus is less popular and lacks the vibrant ambience of the main campus.

Course Curriculum Overview

My course is instrumentation and electronics. For anyone who is interested in core domain of instrumentation or electronics it is a wonderful choice. My first choice was electronics and telecommunication engineering and second choice was this and third choice was electrical engineering. In this course you will have to option to go into core or software or consultancies. We have two CTs ( Class Test ) and one semester exam in one semester.

Class Size: 55Course Fees: INR 10000 per year

Internships Opportunities

In Instrumentation and Electronics Engineering, for core aspirants the major company is Texas Instruments. For consultancy it's PwC and for software there are many internships available. Also students can opt for Mitacs global research intership in Canada.

Fees and Financial Aid

Tuition fees is approximately 10,000 only. Hostel charges are very very low. You can also stay in nearby pgs with around 3000-5000 per month. Some scholarships and financial aids are also available. You are take part in undergraduate research projects here.

Campus Life

Main highlight of saltlake campus is CIIPPUS, and technical event like SRIJAN. The range and accessibility of books is satisfactory. The ground of saltlake campus is also one of its highlights. There are many clubs to join like jusc (jadavpur university science club), chess club, IEEE, etc.

Admission

I have got admission through counselling of WB JELET (West Bengal Joint Entrance For Lateral Entry into B.E/BTech). You can find the application in WBJEEB website. It's registration usually starts in December/January and exam dates usually in June. To get into JU through lateral entry you have to secure a rank under 150-200. To get in branches like CSE, IT, ETCE, IEE, EE you have to get a rank (gmr) under 50.

Faculty

The faculty-to-student ratio in my class is notably beneficial, with 13 dedicated faculty members catering to a class of 55 students. This includes 8 professors, 4 associate professors, and 1 assistant professor.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

Like my main was getting to IIT which I couldn't as U couldn't clear JEE advanced.So my next option was to choose between NITS and JU.So clearly choose JU because it completes our BE in 10k whereas the fees of NITs are really high.So as I gave JEE in 2024 my jee main rank was something around 64K (95.5 percentile) and my wbjee rank was 2341 and got alloted food Technology and biochemical engineering in jadavpur university.The process to get into our college is to give wbjee and if u are a general your rank should be within 2500 to get into this premium college....Read More
