Course Curriculum Overview

4

As a person who studied an outdated syllabus in BCA, I was pushed into this advanced syllabus in PESU, the quality of syllabus is very good at least in first Sem for me, me along with my classmates are learning new things, we might find it difficult but considering the placement aspects we are getting prepared in a good way due the course curriculum.

Fees and Financial Aid

For PESSAT batch the total fees for MCA in PESU is 5 lakhs, which reasonable considering other colleges fees structure, and for the PGCET batch the total fees including the college fees and govt fees is 3 lakhs. Fees structure is fixed and no hike is done, regulations are strict for fees structure. There are many scholarships available from the university like MRD scholarship which refunds 50 percent the fees this is provided to top 5 students who secure CGPA above 9, CNR scholarship which refunds 40 percent of the fees, this is given to top 20 percent students who secure more than 7 CGPA, scholarships are given irrespective of cast, religion and any other facts. Due to being in first sem we I have not undertaken any responsibilities as of now but I will in the future.

Campus Life

5

Campus life is good, it depends on how much you utilise the facilities provided by the university, you have good library, parks, canteens and infrastructure, you don't get bored being in campus, it is open till 9pm of the day. Students in PESU come from different parts of India due to which I made many friends of many parts of India. But you also should be aware of what type of friends you make. Safety for female students is prioritised, no ragging policy is very strict and will be implemented then there if any one is ragging any students. Sports faculty is good we have a full pledged ground and indoor stadium which is well equipped, PESU has many student run clubs, frequent activities will be going on in college campus every week. Fests are celebrated grandly and safely which has good impact in a students life.

Admission

The admission to MCA in PESU is a long process as the university gives admission to only worthy students through PESSAT or CET. First I applied on the university website, then I chose a interview slot, at the chosen day I was interviewed by the faculty themselves through online, I performed well in the interview and my seat was confirmed. After the seat was confirmed I was told to block the seat by paying 1 lakh ten thousand. After few months university sent me a final admission mail to pay remaining fees including the day of admission, note that the remaining fees should be payed through DD. At the day of admission they verified my documents and the admission was complete. This might sound long but PESU makes sure we have sufficient time to pay fees and prepare for the interview. There is no reservation or anything for PESSAT. I was asked basics to advanced questions about computer science so if you are trying for PESSAT please prepare thoroughly.

Faculty

4

Currently for MCA we are a class of 260 and the student to faculty ratio is 1 faculty for every 40 students. Faculty in our department are well qualified, senior faculty have phd and great achievements in their name, but still students find difficulty in understanding few concepts as the syllabus is more advanced. But overall our department has quality faculty.

Placement Experience:

Placements in our college are average. Students become eligible for campus placements from the 2nd semester. Some companies visit the college and offer jobs in different roles. The average package is around 3-4 LPA and the highest package depends on the company. After completing my degree, I plan to get a good job and gain experience in my field

Placements are good...lot of my friends got placed. But it even depends on individual intrests. At starting you get paid less but later on experience u can earn more. In case if placement doesn't happen you will still have the chance to explore outside.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The MCA course curriculum is well structured, relevant, and comprehensive. It covers core computer science subjects such as programming, data structures, databases, software engineering, and practical lab work, which influenced my decision to choose this course. The curriculum provides a strong foundation for both real-world applications and further academic pursuits. With the support of good and experienced faculty, concepts are explained clearly through theory, practical sessions, assignments, and projects. Exams are conducted on a semester basis with internal assessments and end-semester examinations. The frequency and timing of exams are appropriate, and the difficulty level is moderate. Students who attend classes regularly and follow faculty guidance can perform well.
