UPES LLB review

The law subjects are nice and essential for the law students. The law subjects are interesting but we do have subjects which are unwanted and irrelevant like managing relationships or learning how to unlearn, etc. The exams takes place offline and 6-7 papers get finished in 15 days so we start and finish our academic year early.

In the first year every student must do a social internship with an NGO which is either allotted by the university or by student's choice. Then later on a law student can do other internships under a lawyer or high court, trial court, or supreme Court. From second year onwards the student has to himself search for internship and must perform them . An internship diary needs to be filled . Tasks like drafting, project analysis, reading case files, performing surveys, etc are performed in the internships.

The fee is comparatively high if we compare with other law schools in Dehradun. For a 5 year BBA-LLB course the fee is approx 18 lakhs . It's infact the highest . Also the hostel and accommodation fee are very expensive. Though there are scholarships like girl child scholarship, domicile scholarships for the local people. And a child also get 1 year scholarship if he has attained above 90% in his board exams.

Annual fests like Spandan which is a sports fest and Urjaa which is another annual fest takes place every year. In an year 3-4 fests happens . They also provide good food stalls and dance performances along with good artists . The library is very big and has every book or if any book is unavailable then you can get it ordered. The classrooms are big and cool. Projectors are there in every classroom. Sports like football, basketball, cricket, badminton are there and tournaments also takes place. Students can also join clubs related to their courses or extracurricular clubs like dancing, singing, poetry, writing, etc. The overall campus life is phenomenal.

The admission process was quite easy. We have admission department in UPES to guide the prospective students throughout the admission process. Application form is available on the my upes website. And the fee structure and application dates are also mentioned therein. And the entrance exam dates are flexible as per the student's convenience.

For additional subjects like french or german there's no faculty available and we get to have online classes for that which is not very effective for us. Also some of the faculties are still pursuing phd from the same university itself so they lack the professionalism. And some have just completed their LLM and they have come to teach as an assistant proffessor so they lack the working experience.
