Remarks
This college has provided me with one of the best days of my life which i will always cherish and for this i am ever grateful to my buddies from my batch, my seniors as well as juniors and last, but not least, the faculty and management.
Entrance Preview
This college accepts eligible candidates through the WBJEE exam, which in my time was around 120,000 candidates appeared for. My rank was a humble 4979.When going through the my possible options, i found this college met all my requirements. The college has a highly qualified faculty of professors and lecturers, which makes the college worthwhile from an academic perspective. also, being a government college, the tuition fee is quite humble - 12k per sem for b.tech in information technology, 6k per sem for b.tech computer science engineering and 3k for b.tech in leather technology. most importantly, the college is in the beautiful city of kolkata, my hometown.
Course Curriculum Overview
The college is affiliated to maulana abul kalam azad university of technology (previously west bengal university of technology) and follows the curriculam set by the university. the college has a highly qualified faculty of professors and lecturers.
Internships Opportunities
There aren't any internship programs arranged by the college. If one wishes to work as an intern, one would need to makwe the arrangements on their own. There is a final year training though, which is arranged by the college (the placement cell most likely), but the student will need to pay for it to attend the training and attain the certification.
Placement Experience
Placements are good, particularly for the people in it or cse. reputed mncs like capgemini, cts, ibm, tcs, infosys, etc come for recruitments, but like all colleges the number of candidates they take depend on the economy.
College Events
The college has 2 annual festivals - the tech fest "enginerds" and the cultural extrabaganza/ college reunion "punormilon".Enginerds is a 2 day event. The different events included games such as counter strike, fifa, nfs most wanted, photography competition, poster making competition, softronics, quiz, mathemagic, and sudoku. beside this seminars are also held, which allows the students to directly interact with leading professionals of the industry.Punlormilan is a 2 day event. Teher are great cultural performances by college students like singing, dancing, playing musical instruments, ramp walk and abriti. besides internal performances there are external performance by local popular bands like fossils, lakhichara, etc and also a dj to conclude the entire event.
Fee Structure And Facilities
since i did not stay at the college hotel, i do not have much idea. though i know that the expenses were pretty humble and the location is 200 metres away from the college. There are 3 departments in total: it (information technology), cse (computer science engineering) and lt (leather technology). Being a government college, the tuition fee is quite humble - 12k per sem for b.tech in it, 6k per sem for b.tech in cse and 3k for b.tech in lt.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are plenty of options for scholarships in this college most being based on means and merit. The students belonging to the minority community also have plenty of options. All the information is proactively provided to the students by the college staff on the first day during the introduction.
Campus Life
The male to female ratio in my time was around 10:1, yes, pretty sad i know.Parties were a regular for us though but it totally depended on us to make it happen. Students from around the country would come for admission to this college, primarily for the lt department as it is one of the few colleges offering this course. Also, in my 4 years there, i have never faced nor seen anyone face any bias or discrimination on the grounds on gender, religion, politics, economic status or any other category.
Alumni/Alumna
The relation you build with your senior during your time in college always proves to be helpful at some point of time. How helpful the seniors will be for you will depend on your personal interraction with them. The alumni network is not very strong though in general to be honest.
