My experience at Kirori Mal College

I choose BSc Hons. Maths is my undergraduate course as it has been my favorite subject since childhood. I have always liked solving maths problems during my school days. The curriculum under DU is quite good. During my college days, I have developed better mathematical skills and knowledge. The courses consist of both applied and pure mathematics so one can apply the knowledge learned in the curriculum. I think that the knowledge gained here will definitely help me out in pursuing my master's and even PhD. In terms of improvement that can be implemented, I guess they can make it more interesting through better communication and interaction. We had 2 semesters exams during every academic year. We had one in December - January and another in May- June.

There are many internship that you can apply including ones that the university offers like the vice-chancellor internship. Private companies also offer internships to students with stipends. You can also do projects under your teachers to gain work experience.

There is a placement cell in KMC where some of my friends were also part of it. I personally was not part of the cell. I heard many companies do take interviews and offer packages to students. For me, I will further pursue master's as I am interested in academics and research.

I paid 12929 rupees every year for three years and I was in the OBC category. There is not much rate hikes as of now. You also need to pay exam fees of around 980 or 1120 rupees depending upon the number of subjects every semester exam. Other than that you might have to pay a bit for library or gym which is optional.

Our annual festival is called Renaissance which was held in April. There were many stalls in the college. There were many performances performed during the fest. In the library, you can find lots of books to read. There are also reading rooms where students study there. There is also a sport ground where students play football and cricket. There is also a gym where you can go to work out. Many sports competitions are also organised there. Students can join many societies including dance, drama, debating, placement and many others.

Any students who have passed the 12th standard can apply for the course. For us, selection was based on cutoff percentage of your 12th marks. I was under OBC category and the cutoff was 96%. But right now selection is done under Cuet ug entrance exam . It is conducted around April. The difficulty of the exam is based on the subject. Some of them can be a bit difficult if you are not prepared well.

O.The faculty to student ratio in my class is 1:18 and I guess in my opinion it is quite good. There was no issue in the teaching experience and I could understand the lectures well. We had almost regular classes and the teaching styles were great. The maths faculty in KMC are one of the best in the country and it was a pleasure to study under them. I had good interactions with my teachers and mentors. You can almost interact daily with the teachers. However, sometimes they might be a bit busy but after a while you can interact with them freely.
