Course Curriculum Overview

4

I personally took mechanical due to my passion in physics and it's related subjects, the curriculum is made pretty well, and most of it is personalized by the professors themselves, exams usually happen with a one month interval between each, with two normal exams with 15% weightage each and a final semester exam which holds about 40% of your entire sem, the rest 30% is divided in between with various assignments and such. When it comes to the difficulty level, in my pov the 2nd exam would be the hardest due to its open book character so watch out for that one

Internships Opportunities

3

I haven't gotten as far as internships yet but from what I've heard from seniors and other sources, the internships provided by the college are okay-okay, while not that great they do provide with gold amount of experience and a on-hands kinda thing, again this depends on how you perform academically, professor's opinions on you and most importantly you're aptitude, you're drive to learn and how much you have learnt so far until the 3rd year.

Placement Experience

3

I'm unsure of the placements as I haven't graduated yet, but most people from mechanical opt to pursue master's abroad or inside India. Germany or most European countries are good if expensive options for master's. NTU or NUS are also good options. And then there's the ivy league in the US too.

Fees and Financial Aid

The feelings policy differs according to ur ranking, while in not sure of the regularity or the rate of the hikes, vit has 5 categories for each course, where the the 1st category is the cheapest for 2lakhs and increase with a 1Lakh as you move up the categories, hostel fees varies but I'm unsure about that too as I'm a dayscholar, bus fees is around 40k roughly

Campus Life

4

overall the campus itself is good n welcoming, socially it's a very interactive campus with plenty of people and plenty of opportunities to be explored whilst giving you a good amount of experience in various disciplines, the library system is systematic, while the collection isn't very grand, it has a lot of books for ur academic needs n good alternatives too

Admission

The admission process is purely based on merit, no bs with quotas, no bs with reservations n stuff, the application details can be found on the official website, and there's exactly one viteee entrance exam conducted every year and the difficulty level is less than jee mains so that's a relief for most people

Faculty

3.5

There are plenty of faculties in vit, and are more than enough to accommodate the students needs, most of them have phDs and they're teaching varies from person to person but most of them only require your attention and discipline during the class hours( yes it's a bit hard for most of us), and you can interact with them at your leisure, provided that the faculties are free at that moment

Hostel fees and location inconveniences were a hindrance

Specific schedule is not followed in college regarding the academic and co curricular activities. Sudden decisions will be taken by the management which is a bit difficult for the students and faculty too. There were times where faculties are fed up of management rules and decisions.

1.) Placement begins from the pre-final year and we are allowed to apply for companies from the final year. 2.) Around 70% of the class gets placed in reputed companies with an average CTC of 4-8 LPA. 3.) Along with core biotech companies, many IT companies are also hiring students at a very decent package. 4.) I plan to pursue a master's after this course.
