Remarks

On behalf of every MCC'ian, I'm extremely satisfied with the education, opportunities, and everything.

Entrance Preview

Madras Christian College is one of the top ten colleges in India. it is well known for its history, name, reputation and the massive area it has covered with itself. Apart from its structure, it provides the best education comparing to all the others colleges in Chennai.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I'm from the commerce department. We had two streams in commerce, B.com general and B.com vocational which focuses more on the marketing field. While we general students, learn every aspect of commerce in general. We had almost 6 papers per semester in the 1st year. Out of which 4 papers are major related to commerce, accounts, marketing, and business maths, and the remaining 2 papers are English and Language. We also had different languages like Tamil, French, German, Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu etc which helps students who are from different areas to continue to study their own regional language. Students can choose their own language and it is must for every student who chose their own regional language to opt Tamil as General course ( extra ) where they learn basic Tamil. We also had personality development, elective papers where we can choose our interested area in the successive semesters. The management didn't only provide us with the knowledge of our core subject but they also provided us with an opportunity to learn psychology, personality development etc

Internships Opportunities

Yes. Our college gives various opportunities for students to improve themselves by providing internships. Students have a lot of internships opportunities which was intimated to them through their respective departments and its also posted on social media by the placement officer where students get the information about internships and could easily apply for them. The stipend varies from company to company. General stipends start 5000 which may extend to 15000 based on the skill of the students. These internships opportunities help students to get through and overall knowledge of their respective fields.

Placement Experience

4

Several companies which hold the highest position came to our college for placements. Regular Intimations were also given to students through their respective departments and social media as well. Companies like Amazon, Larsen and Toubro, TCS, Infosys, Ernst & Young, Deloitte and lot more visited our campus. They offered a range of salary from 15000- 30000 per month for the posts of tax analyst etc

College Events

5

Apart from studies, We had lots and lots of events that helped us to portray our talents. There were people who encouraged us to be a part of events. More than everything we had the freedom to participate in events and us students had the freedom to give our opinions in things that concern us.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure differs for aided stream and self-financed steam where the fee for an aided stream is comparatively very feasible than the self-financed stream since the aided stream is government aided. I'm from an aided stream and the fee I paid for the entire course is under 35,000.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships were also given for all the economically backward students on yearly basis. The management took real care in providing scholarships to the students. I've availed scholarships from the college for all the 3 years of my course

Campus Life

5

The infrastructure was indeed the best. MCC is special for its forest-like structure, that's the reason why we call it as 'Heaven On Earth'. Every classroom can hold to a minimum of 100 students. There were also lounges for women students with great facilities. The clinic is available on the campus. Miller library is one of the best libraries you could ever find in a college. It's a Big library with WiFi, restroom, internet, audio, video sections and indeed it has a wide range of books in all disciplines. Nobody could raise a question about the quality of labs, classrooms and even food available in the canteen. We've won the award from the University Grants Commission for our excellence in infrastructure

Hostel Facilities

4

MCC has 5 halls ( hostels) inside the campus. Out of which, 2 halls are for women students. Each and every hall is very well maintained. They are provided with guards, wardens and students are elected as representatives for every hall. Each room occupied by 2 students. Every hall is provided with its own playground. Students also provided with mess facilities 3 times per day. I was not a hall student but I've heard my fellow classmates say that's where they learn what life is.

Alumni/Alumna

Yeah. It is indeed helpful. We have an alumni network which conducts an alumni meeting every year. All the alumni students are eligible and are invited to be a part of the meeting. The meeting consists of various alumni who passed out of the college from different years. Even the college provides employment opportunities for alumni students who passed out recently

Exam Structure

The end of semester examinations conducted in the months of November and December every year. Before the examinations, we also have 3 Internal assessments. First two are written tests and the third one is where the students have to do projects, seminar presentations etc which help them to overcome their stage fear and enhance themselves in presentations, communication, teamwork and leadership.

Admission

Though I secured District first in the higher secondary board exams, it was kinda difficult for me to get admission in MCC at first. There are two steps in the administration process. The very first step is applying for the admission through online. The management will shortlist the applicants based on their marks and the shortlisted applicants will be called for interview. The interview will be conducted by the respective departments. The applicants who have shortlisted from the interview are eligible for the admission. It might seem easy but it's not easy to pass through these 2 steps. Getting admission on aided stream ( morning) is much difficult than the self-financed stream ( evening ) since the aided stream is government aided and only merit students have possibilities to get admission.

Faculty

3.5

The faculties were the best one could ever have. They didn't just teach the subjects, they taught us what life really is. The faculties were all well educated, qualified, moreover very friendly and they did know how to inspire each and every student. They paid attention to every student in the class. The classes were very interactive that way we improved our communication skills. We have done surveys, projects, and seminars which were really helpful to learn our core subject. We even had classes to improve our personality which helps us to lead a moral life. At last, they proved the saying 'GENTLEMEN OF MCC'. Joined in as a clay, but they molded us into an art.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The specific aspect will be accounting that made me choose this couse. The curriculum made me to prepare for future accounting field works and knowledge around the field. The improvements that I suggest may is to add more relevent real life job experience in subject books itself. As per me who is one of a topper student in my college, The difficulty is moderate to me and timing of exams are more enough to fill all the questions.

Placement Experience:

In MCC there is placement but it's not 100% placement, only 10 to 20 from a class of 60 gets placed, so when it comes to placement it's upto to you and your skills. Normaly the placement enrollment starts at beginning of your 5th semester or end of your fourth semester, you can opt for placement or higher study. The highest package was from Standard Chartered & Deloitte it was 6 Lakhs CTC. Accenture, TCS and some well known companies will participate in placement drive. The average package will be Rs.3.5 Lakhs CTS. I'm planning to go for higher studies while doing a part time job after getting degree.
