Remarks

College management is awful with respect to informing students about lectures as well as shuffling lectures in case of absentee teachers. The reception is awful as they seem to get paid for their perpetual breaks without any regard for whether theres a long queue or not.

Entrance Preview

Was recommended to me by one of my friends who was a student of the same college, she stressed on how good the faculty was and how they're unlike most colleges wherein the teachers treat teaching like a job more so than it is a conversation. Besides that the college is also pretty close to where I stay.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

It's run by the Mumbai University, so the curriculum isn't something very uncommon compared to other colleges. Although Mumbai universities are known to have a curriculum which includes alot of irrelevant material and like most educational programs assesses ones 'intellect' only by how much they're able to memorize and not rationalize.

Internships Opportunities

The college does not provide internships to the best of my knowledge although they hire teachers on a visiting basis.

Placement Experience

2

The college does offer a couple of job placements by various companies , although I'm not sure of how they've worked out for people who have been selected for the spots. The college seems pretty adamant on how they have companies offer placements to their college students but it would be more helpful to ask people who have applied for the same before applying for it yourself.

College Events

1

Talenzia which is a college fest organized by our students but only outsiders are allowed to participate, agon is another one which I have no idea about, although i think it seems to be some sort of music festival for college students. The Wonderful part about these festivals is that lectures are conducted as usual while there's music blasting from the surrounding.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The division of feel structure is shown on the fee receipt as well as the prospectus issued by the college at the time of obtaining an admission form. The items I disagree with are the refundable fees which are not refunded to us at the end of the year with an exception of my previous year which surprisingly they did refund, the other item is the library fees which is made to be included and paid compulsorily. This leads to alot of people just sitting and crowding the library while bickering just to disturb those who are genuinely studying. They should just deduct the amount from the total fee and offer the facility separately to those who are genuinely in need of it or want to use it . This will drastically change the state of the library and give rise to a decorum this library should have maintained a long time ago.

Fees and Financial Aid

The colleges do provide a couple of scholarships which include entries to big universities as well as placements abroad.

Campus Life

3

There appear to be more females than males as far as my experience is concerned, all the years of my college life has seen a ratio of males to females of about 1:3. With respect to outdoor sports our college is the worst owing to it's lack of ground for training, coach and motivation. The college doesn't seem to be interested at all in renting out a ground for the team to practice nor does the coach attend practices in case we happen to train on public grounds. The money for matches played in football is given a year later from the date of the match whereas it's a hassle to obtain attendance for the lecture missed in case of a match. Althoigh, the college is more invested in indoor sports where it seems to excel over other colleges.

Hostel Facilities

0.5

Awful. Completely oily food prepared with lack of proper hygiene. No hairnets, no gloves while food is spilled all over the stove. The tea however seems to be the only edible item for that I deem fit for consumption. However, the manner of treatment of food doesn't seem to stop alot of my fellow classmates.

Alumni/Alumna

The college at times calls upon ex students who have been successful and has them give speeches to the current college students.

Exam Structure

Exam structure is governed by the Mumbai University wherein each year has 2 semesters to be conducted. The subjects of each semester vary according to the portion published by the Mumbai University. In October and April, the exams are conducted following which vacations are granted.

Admission

Admission process was the same as any other college; Aquire the form, fill the details and submit the same. Few days later the lists are put up and everyone's informed if they've made it or not. The ones who have been selected have to continue with the admission process and pay the fees.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty is great for the most part. It's been very impressive in my degree college experience so far as opposed to my time in junior college, where they treated everyone like children by imposing such juvenile methodologies of maintaining discipline. The teacher however is also far better in degree college.

At TCSC placements are quite good as anyone. Even the SOBO colleges and Mithibai don't have placements as good as us. So this is why I always dreamt of studying here because since last 6-7 years, Thakur College placements have gone better and higher.

The good thing is that the college was not strict and was never forcing us to study rather it was seeing to it that it gave us proper advice and help us reach more towards my career goal. The bad part would be there were may staff which was very dull and was not kind, and no importance was given to correct their behaviour although it was evident by all.
