- The campus of Assam University, Silchar is one of the largest in the whole northeast India which spreads over 600 acre.
- The teaching faculties are also top notch. Our Physics professor is from IIT Guwahati and Chemistry professor is from IIT Kharagpur
Dislikes
- Sometimes the university takes very long time to publish the semester results which is definitely not good for any central university.
- As far as I know, the placements are not very good in this university.
Course Curriculum Overview
The integrated BSc BEd in Physics Hons. is a professional course of 4 years. It saves 1 year of the student if they have to pursue it separately. Overall the course is good it gives you all the core knowledge of your subject area and it also develops the skills to become a good Science and Mathematics teacher. Also any one can go for higher studies like MSc and MEd. After qualifying CTET, they can also get jobs in central govt. schools like Kendriya Vidhyalaya(KV) and many more schools. They also provide internship during the course which gives real life experience to the students.
Internships Opportunities
Our department also provide mandatory internship to all the students. Since our course is integrated BSc BEd in Physics Hons., we have to go for mandatory teaching experience in various schools like KVs, VKVs, DPS, etc. for a duration of 1 month. It gives us practical experience in teaching in various schools.
Fees and Financial Aid
When we took admission in 2022, the fees was around 20k/year but now it is increased to around 25k/year. Overall the fees will be 1 lakh to 1.2 lakh for the whole course. The exam fees is 1175, which needs to be paid before every semester exams. Students can also get scholarship in the first year.
Campus Life
The campus life is very good in Assam University, Silchar. The campus is very big and it is an epitome of natural beauty. Various fests takes place from time to time in the campus like AUSKRITI, SCIENTIA, AIKIYA, etc. Last year the dj came from Russia. One of the attraction of the university is the Rabindra Granthaghar (Central library). The library is one of the biggest of the state with thousands of books of all the topics. Almost all books are available there. The sitting area is also very large. Various sports activities also takes place from time to time. There are various clubs in our university as well like the GREEN CLUS, WEB DEVELOPMENT CLUS, PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB, QUIZ CLUB, ASTRONOMY CLUB, etc
Admission
To get admission into this course, CUET UG exam is compulsory. The admission takes place on the basis of CUET scores. The student should be 12th pass from Science stream. The student have to separately apply in the university admission portal in order to take admission. The admission notice is usually published in the university website.
Faculty
The faculties are very good iin our department. There are 2 teachers for physics, 3 teachers for chemistry, 1 teacher for mathematics. Out of 50 students in the class 13 are of Physics Hons. and 13 are of Chemistry Hons. and remaining are of botany and zoology. So, the student teacher ratio is good. The professors are also highly qualified and experienced. Our Physics professor is from IIT Guwahati and Chemistry professor is from IIT Kharagpur and Botany professor is from Delhi University and many are from other reputated institues, and they teach in a very effective way. They try to give individual attention to each student which is very helpful for students. Since the no. of students are less, the interaction is very good between the teachers and the students.
