Life At PESU

At present the infrastructure in terms of playing space is not that great due to the construction that is going on in the college. But the infrastructure of the college,the classrooms are good. Conclusion:- If you have a chance to join this college please do so asap.Otherwise you are going to miss a lot of stuff in life.

Pes University is one of the best colleges in Karnataka. It ranks among top 10 colleges in Karnataka and is well known for the kind of education it provides and the environment to which the students here are exposed to.The computer science course here is the best as far as i have experienced and heard about the experiences of my friends in other colleges.

The course has a good design as the students are provided with good weight-age of hands-on and theory. Labs are offered to important subjects such as data structures and algorithms. Apart from this, we have let-of once a week so that we can participate in other club activities such as organizing some event or taking up some external course(very interesting external courses are provided by the college).

Internships,it provides a lot of those. The students just have to be enthusiatic to approach the faculty and enquire about them. I will let you into some internships, 1)CDSAML -- it deals with providing internship during summer on machine learning topics. 2)MIL -- it provides projects to the interested students etc.

The placement here is amazing. I have not been to a placement session yet but according to my seniors all the students whose GPA was more than 7.5 were placed with a good package. Companies like Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Wipro ,L&T etc had visited the college for providing job opportunities to the students.

PES is one of the colleges in Bangalore known for its fest and events that it conducts throughout the year. Aatmatrisha is the college fest which attracts most of the people because of its star stud performances and by star stud i mean some bollywood stars like Vishal and Shekhar. It even organizes some inter-college sports event.

The fee structure is some what expensive. The fees is 90000 if you have taken admission through KCET and it is 2.75L if through PESSAT. The hostel is also quite expensive but the services the hostel management provides is excellent. The hostal fee is around 1.2L. Note:- This is the fee structure from year 2016.

The college provides scholarship to all the students who are among the top 25% of their department in terms of their SGPA. The scholarship amount is 15% of the admission fee. The scholarship is provided once per semester. Loans are provided if you want to go for higher studies and you are a top 10 student in you branch.

The campus life is absolutely amazing. It has cricket grounds, mini-football stadium, a gym and the list goes on. The gender ratio is high towards the boys side might be 60-40.A lot of competitions are held within the college ,even departments hold their own competitions.It has a gym with a membership fee of 1200 p.a.

The hostel management is very good. They have laundry staff were the students are allowed to give their clothes to wash twice a week.They have security cameras installed.Students can chose between individual and shared rooms. The mess food is of high quality and the menu changes almost everyday.

PES has a huge alumni network which meets at-least once a year through the meetings conducted by the college staff. The seniors are the best. We have no ragging in the college premises. The seniors are very supportive(especially for me).

Each subject in a particular semester consists of 5 units which covers most of the important topics on that subject. We have an exam structure which consists of 5 main questions and 3-4 sub questions. Each main question deals with a particular unit. The lab exams are conducted by conducting a lab quiz and conduction of a particular experiment.

I had written KCET examination which stands for Karnataka Common Entrance Test which is only for the students who have studied in Karnataka for more than other club years. For other students PES conducts their own entrance test called PESSAT. After getting the ranks of the test if we were qualified we were given a date within which we had to report to the college/admission office. There we had to fill our details like our name,,father's name etc and were directed to the admission center were our photos were taken and were given a temporary id card and were directed to get a DD of the fees and submit to the office before the college commences.

The faculty is always busy in bringing out the good in the students. The encourage students who are introverts(like me) to get comfortable with others. The mail us about the various events that were taken place at various institutes and encourage us to participate in them. Overall the faculty is good expect for some teachers and the overall rating for the faculty would be 4/5.
