What Students Say
Likes
- The college has quite good faculty and provide regular classes and myself being of ECE department the faculty is very cooperative.
- The lab classes are also held regularly and makes sure you have 75% attendance in lab classes. A total of 4 CAs i.e. class assessments are held .every month
- It provides average placements and have partners with companies like Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, EY, Labvantage, Fractal Analytics, Tiger Analytics,CloudKaptan with an average package of 4 to 4.5LPA.
Dislikes
- The college does pool campus placements meaning all the college which comes under Techno India Group sits for placement exam altogether. As a result approximately 1500 students sits for placement exams and very few gets selected among all.
- The college clubs especially learning clubs such as coding clubs are very inactive. As a result students do not get much exposure to new technologies.
- The syllabus is quite outdated compared to the recent technologies that are blooming in today's IT world. As a result, you have learn all the skills on your own.
Course Curriculum Overview
To be honest, the curriculum is quite backdated and it needs to be updated according to the latest technology. As nowadays many new technologies have emerged which are vastly used in IT, so to keep students updated syllabus needs to be modified. As a result student had to learn the new technologies on their own.
Internships Opportunities
Very few internship opportunities were given to 2024 batch, hardly 2 or 3companies came for internships. Among them were Nutanix, Salesforce. Nutanix came for the role of "System Reliability Engineer" for Pune/Bangalore location and came with the offer of 50k to intern for a period of 6 months and 22lpa for full time based on performance. Slaesforce came for the role of "Associate Technical Support Engineer Intern " with 30k stipend as intern and full time 9lpa.
Placement Experience
From 7th semester students become eligible for campus placements and internships. For 2024 batch, Accenture came for campus placements and a total of 44 students from this college got offer with 7 from ECE branch and the rest from CSE, IT, CSBS, ME, EE, etc. Next Fractal Analytics came and gave 3 offers, CloudKaptan 2 offers, Tiger Analytics 2 offers, EY gave 4 offers, TCS through off campus gave 30- 40 offers. Higest package is 9lpa given by TCS prime through offcampus and Tiger Analytics 7.5lpa through oncampus , Accenture provided 6lpa. Due to recession, no. of companies visited is very less as a result the placement rate is not even 50%. I got placed in Accenture through on campus so will be joining after the degree as ASE i.e. Associate Software Engineer.
Fees and Financial Aid
As I was from 2020-24 batch ECE Department, during that time the course fee was 4,10,000 for the duration of 4 years if and only if you took admission through your WBJEE rank or JEE Mains rank. The college also provides direct admission through Management Quota where the fees would be double. Now the course fee for B.Tech for the year 2025 is around 6,00,000 for four years. Scholarships are also provided by West Bengal Government to the students residing in West Bengal whose family income is less. One such scholarship is SVMCM. The college also provides decent placements with an average package of 4 to 4.5lpa through companies such as Accenture, EY, LabVantage, CloudKaptan.
Campus Life
Smart India Hackathon is conducted every year and quite a number of students participates along with tech fest is organized during social fest where students showcase their hardware and software skills. Subject related books are provided from library from where you can issue and keep it for semesters. Along with that additional technology books are also available here. The classes only provide academic lectures but donot have any extra curriculam classes. If you want to learn any new technology such as web dev, ai ml you have to do it on your own. Clubs such as photography, art clubs are there which are quite functional but coding clubs are not functional at all. Niether any coding contests takes place in the college.
Admission
I took admission through WBJEE Exam rank which is also called West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination which can be given after class 12. One can apply through the WBJEE portal and register themselves. Special reservations are also there for SC/ST/OBC/Physically challenged and EWS (Economically Weaker Sections) The exam is held once a year and is quite difficult exam.
Faculty
During first year, all our classes were taken by the faculties of BSH Department as our subjects included Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Electrical, etc. All the faculties had good depth of the subject except one or two. They used to take regular classes and even cleared all the doubts. After completion of 1st year, from 2nd year all classes were taken by departmental faculties. They too have good knowledge on the subject matter and also provided notes when necessory.
