Dislikes
- Attendance/ Head Count - Students are less likely to attend classes due to immense encouragement of extra curricular activities and little provision for disciplinary actions for attending classes.
- Canteen Food - The food provided in the canteen is neither healthy enough for daily consumption nor does it satisfy students' taste buds.
Course Curriculum Overview
As compared to other colleges offering the same course, THK Jain is doing a good job in providing students a practical experience of how everything works. The students are provided personality development classes, industrial visits as well as internship opportunities to hone and develop skills. The teaching methods adopted by the professors are mostly satisfactory.
Internships Opportunities
There haven't been any satisfactory internship opportunities as far as I have observed. The internships offered required students to pay a fee. Although, there might be opportunities in the last year of my course, as of now I haven't gotten any satisfactory opportunities.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fee for BBA Honours is 30,000 Rupees per year. The inclusion of library fee, computer lab fee and such other miscellaneous fee makes it up to 42,000 rupees per year. Although the college is a bit expensive comparatively, it provides a lot of scholarship opportunities to the students from the state and central government as well as the college's own scholarship programme. I, as well, have a 50% scholarship from the college. A student needs to pay the whole year's fees during the admission and then semester wise thereafter.
Campus Life
Here at THK Jain College, we have annual fests like 'Ripples' which is typically held in the month of November - December. The department of commerce and the department of Business Administration have their separate fests as well. Sports are held once or twice in a year depending on the number of fests in the year, usually in the month of September and March. All classrooms are non-ac except the computer and science labs and the Audio-visual (AV) rooms. During summers, students of BBA are allowed to sit in the AV room on a routine basis. The library has a good collection of required books for the courses as well as competitive exam books. However, the size of the library is just above average. One can participate in NSS , a social service programme, which is typically handled by students. For study material and resources, the college has student portals and provides one-on-one guidance as well.
Admission
There is no admission test required to get admitted in the college. To apply, visit the website and follow the guidelines to apply. Although my name on the merit list was on the 7th rank, the office staff informed that the admission was on a first come first serve basis. This was an acute drawback of the admission procedure that I encountered. Furthermore, for any information regarding course fee, admission details and other such details - visit the official website.
Faculty
The college has a decent number of well qualified faculty. The professors provide knowledge rich lectures and workshops for students. Students can reach out to the professors as and when required and the professors are very helpful and provide good guidance. Opportunities like class presentations and industrial visits help build the students' attitude, skills and knowledge. The faculty gives exposure to how the management works by letting students take charge of finance, logicstics, marketing and supervision during fests. Overall, the learning experience is good. However, problems like bias and lack of enough disciplinary provisions have led to low attendance and less attention in the classes. The faculty and students must work together to find a way to remove such biasness and lack of adequate sincerity.
