KMC- preparing you to be a doctor and for real life

NMC decides the curriculum for MBBS. It is standard and necessary to become a doctor. The papers are set by the university. It is a professional course. Early clinical exposure has been started from first year itself. So over the course of the degree, and throughout internship, you end up learning all the basic and necessary things in every department. The curriculum really prepares you for real world application and for further academic pursuits. Teaching methods for theory lectures could really use an improvement as maximum lecturers come and read from a PPT presentation and leave. Its impossible to grasp that much knowledge in under an hour. It would be better if topics were broken down and taught in a more interactive manner. I understand this can be tough as the syllabus is vast and extensive. We have 2 internal exams every year for eacg subject. And Final exams at the end of each year. The papers are set by the university and are of medium difficulty level.

One year compulsory internship at the end of the course in Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital, Warangal and affiliated hospitals. Patient load is good so we get ample clinical exposure. Hands on learning and learning on the job. No on campus placements.

As this is a government college, technically all seats are free seats. However for basic requirements, the annual fee is Rs.10000. Stays constant. No hikes. So in 4 years you need to pay only Rs.40000. There are many different scholarships available for merit and for poor financial background students which can lead to complete fee reimbursement. There are no jobs within the campus. But at the end of the course, each student has to undergo one year compulsory internship rotation. The monthly stipend right now is Rs.25000.

The annual fest is called UTHKARSHA and is usually held in Oct-Nov. It contains events for every kind of person. Very enjoyable. The library is vast and extensive and well stocked and very accessible to the students for studying or borrowing the books. There are full sized football ground, cricket ground, basketball courts, tennis, volleyball, indoor badminton courts etc. Our college has held many inter college and inter medics sports meets. There are cycling clubs and Poket club. No

Hostel has good security, 24/7water and electricity, cots, tables, mattresses, chairs, cupboards provided. Curfew is 9.30PM for girls. No curfew for guys. Mess is run by a student-led contractor. Very affordable and edible food. Non veg 4 times a week.

Eligibility: 12th pass with BiPC and qualified NEET UG. NTA and NMC and KNRUHS have websites for counselling after NEET UG results come out. That is when you get allotted seats based on your rank. There are 50% general seats and 50%reservation seats. The entrance exam happens once every year and it is an easy paper but the competition is very high.

There are 250 people per batch and have to sit in one huge lecture hall for theory lectures. However, for practicals and postings, we get divided into groups of 10-20 and we get individual attention and more chances to perform experiments and take cases. Every single professor has multiple degrees, and they are highly experienced in both teaching and clinical training. Most of the classes consist of reading from PowerPoint presentations and then we need to go back to our rooms and make notes and/or teach the topic to ourselves. But nothing beats the practical teaching. Its very hands-on and everyone gets enough opportunities to practice. Professors and PGs are very approachable. We can interact with them anytime during working hours. They are always ready to clear doubts or go the extra mile for their students.
