Remarks

No bad remarks i can say about the college.what my college gave to me is what i am today.

Entrance Preview

Since it is a college of national Importance and has good placements(90%). It has great infrastructure and good facilities. Well developed instruments to learn engineering well. exposure to more talented students than me. and last but not the least it was the nearest to my hometown.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course curriculum was very nice and sequential, The right method of putting the technical details onto the student so that the student can co-relate and does not lag behind. Each semester had equal to weightage to theoretical and practicals of the same theory being taught in that semester so that you can easily grasp what is being taught in theory.

Internships Opportunities

Every year NIT Rourkela offers 50 paid internships to students across the country. The Internship period will be for 2 months. Usually the internships are offered during summer. Selected candidates will get financial assistantship. In addition to these a number of short term courses are conducted to students of various institutes for advance learning and career guidance.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placements were good and job opportunities as well. COmpanies like BPCL,IOCL,mu sigma, Delloite,PWC and many more comes to our college. For details go to this website http://nitrkl.ac.in/Industry/Placement-Brochure/ which has the companies visited our campus recently for the academic year 2017-2018.

College Events

4.5

1.Cultural Festival-Happens in odd sems 2.Spring Festival- Happens in even sems following celebrity night. 3.Garden Festival- Each semester we had a garden festival with lots of food without any cost. 4.Hall Day's-Similar to Garden festival 5.Grand Farewell-Farewell is given to final year students with grand dinner.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees structure varies, i dont know what might be the fees structure accounting to the fact that i heard in my final year that fees structure are going to be revised and to be made 1.2 lakhs per year. In my time the fees were 72K per year, per semester 36k on an average.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yeah i got scholarship on merit not from the college but from the government of odisha at my time. I dont know the amount they are giving right now but in my time it was 20k per year.

Campus Life

4.5

Gender ratio was like 1 girl for 6 boys i.e, 6:1 boys to girls. There were many extracurricular activities which you can do in the college as we have many clubs in our college in which you can be a member of. Annual sports were organised every year excluding the inter NIT cricket and hockey etc.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Good quality of food, i cannot say that the quality of food was the best. Each sunday we were served with chicken kebabs and tandoori's. Each wednesday we had mutton in our dinner. Each tuesday we had chicken in our dinner. Monday and Saturday were dry and not good foods are served in these days.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes they are, whenever we tried to connect with them they helped us in our academics when in college. And Now they help us in getting into good companies.

Exam Structure

We have 8 semesters and each semester has a mid semester and end semester exam. each odd semester's exam is scheduled at the end of november and each even semester's end sem exam is scheduled at end of April. Mid sem exams are between the timeframe from August to november for odd sems and jan to april for even sems.

Admission

I gave the entrance exam of AIEEE in my time which is now well known as JEE Mains. You have to apply for the entrance in a form and send it through post after form fillup, now all these processes are done online. I had to give the exam offline within 3 hours of time and it had only 1 paper of 350 marks. All these have been went from offline to online mode.

Faculty

2.5

The faculties were above average but not so good. The main point of the good name of the college is because of the students. The students have the main role to put the college forward as a brand. We got nice alumnis who are in very big industries or either started their own firm.

Placement Experience:

I would rate the placements at my college as 3 out of 5. Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the sixth or seventh semester, and a few well-known companies do visit the campus every year. The placement cell helps with basic training like resume building and interviews, and many students, especially from IT branches, manage to secure jobs. At the same time, the average salary packages are not very high and top roles are limited, so a lot of students also focus on skill development, off-campus opportunities or higher studies after completing their degree

Students are eligible for placement from their 3rd year onwards. It has been only 2-3 months but I have seen several companies arriving at the college, prominent ones being Flipkar,Deloitte, Xerox, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Microsoft, Dell and several others including startups. There is no accurate data on how many offers have been made this year, but there are rumours that more than 95% of the eligible students have got placements. After getting a degree my plans are if I dont land into a satisfying job then I will start my preparation of the military or start a new business.
