A roller coaster experience

The overall college experience for the was good. I never felt bad about joing sahyadri.

The reason why i choose this college is because it is located beside the highway and is very convenient to travel with public transports available. Also it was the closest college to my house, and it was very convenient for me to travel daily from home.

The course I choose was bachelor of engineering (B.E) in mechanical. As i was interested to learn about machines, engines, it's working and build, it was very interesting for me. The course curriculum consisted of many subjects that teaches us about how to understand a machine.

The college did not provide internships to the students but allowed the students to go to internships and provided all the required help to do so. They also gave us opportunity to go on industrial visits to well known mechanical industries like jsw and so on.

The placements and job opportunities in our college is quite good. There is a good placement department with very good placement co coordinators who help us to do good in placements. There are many companies that visit our college like infosys, tech mahindra,tcs,samundra, abd also the indian navy. In our branch we had a strength of about 150 and over a 100 were placed.

In our college there were many events conducted. When the college began there is something called as the branch inauguration where the freshers are welcomed to the branch and there is cultural program. Then there is sports day, college day, traditional day.

The fee structure for the student's who come through common entrance test (CET) will have a government fees to be paid, that is about rs. 50000 for general merit students. And then there was an additional rs. 15000 as college fees . For non cet students there is management seats with hefty money to be paid.

There were many scholarships that were available in the college. Also those who could not afford the college fees at once, they could pay it in instalments.

The campus life in Sahyadri was a very ood one, with a lot of events happening, college life was a very good experience and fun. The college had equal opportunities to both boys and girls. There was a good friendly relation between boys and girls and the college dint impose such strict rules. There is a very good ground for students to practice sports.

As I was not a hostelite, i do not know much about the hostel facilities. But as my friend used to stay in the hostel i know that the hostel food was not that great but was manageable, they had non veg once a week and veg other days. The hostel facilitates were good i heard.

There is q good alumni network between the students and college. The aluminis come to the college if there is any good opportunities for the students of the college

The exam structure was not a quite hectic one. We had 3 internals for theory. The internals were not hectic because it was best of two. If we had a low average in any one subject we could have covered it in the third, and if at all we had average in any subject the third internal could have been omitted or written for experience. Lab exams were before the final labs, which was pretty good as we would remeber what we studied for the finals.

The procedure to get admission in this institute is not a difficult one. Firstly, there is an entrance exam called common entrance test (CET). Tis exam consists of multiple choice questions, of 3 subjects, i.e. physics, chemistry and maths. Once the exam is over, and the result comes, there will be counselling and you have to enter the college as your first choice. Based on your ranking college will be awarded.

Our college had a good number of lecturers not only in mechanical branch but in every other branches. They were mostly experienced and few were freshers but with good teaching knowledge. They helped us in all the ways possible to make us learn most of the things they thought us. There were a few lecturers who were bad, but the good ones overshadowed them.
