Entrance Preview

I entered the college on the basis of my rank in IIT JEE. I scored 69 in whole and there was no particular reason to join this college. One of my friend was taking admission in it and suggested me to also take there. Also being the oldest private college of Orissa attracted me further to take interest in it.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

Overall if we see, the course is far better than other universities around. Having C and C++ along with data structures in the 1st year followed by the Java, database management system and Oracle in the 2nd year. Web designing is fixed in the 3rd year. At the end fourth year is given for internship purpose. There are no papers given in the final years and just have to work to improve the capabilities.

Internships Opportunities

No, college does not provide any sort of internship rather if you can manage internship by yourself college would fully support you with the documentation part.

Placement Experience

3.5

Leaving the core branches from the light, the CSE, IT & ETC are well placed in the best of the companies like the TCS, WIPRO, ZYCUS, INFOSYS, MINDTREE with the different packages and job opportunities they come with. With varying packages between 4-9 lakhs, they hire student with the talent they need in quantity. College bonds with more than 50 companies for the students for hiring them and also takes over to different colleges for off campus placements as well.

College Events

2.5

Overall three events are celebrated in the college with one or two small events depending upon the funding provided by the college. First is the foundation day of the college in which small dance and singing performances are conducted by the students. It is celebrated in the month of August. Second event is the fest which is the main event of the college all the students wait for the whole year to come. It is celebrated in the February month. It itself comprises of two sub events like the ZAZEN and ZEPHYR. ZAZEN holding the technical events whereas the ZEPHYR holding the cultural events of the college. It is conducted for three days having one day for the technical events whereas the other two days for the cultural events. Different events like the code chef, robotics, etc are conducted among the technical events whereas the dance and singing performances are conducted in the cultural event. On the second day, it is the DJ night followed by the star night on the 3rd day.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Grabbing a whole amount of RS 1 lakh is all put down to vain by the students as not much facilities is provided. Not having a great infrastructure with mainly three buildings and one auditorium it dissatisfies the hopes and dreams. With not much facilities in the different clubs, not being provided with much equipments and using the old ones. Classroom having old benches may be made at the time of opening of the college and being used till date.

Fees and Financial Aid

No scholarship are given by the college rather than that college on the other will inform you about the different scholarship schemes running in the different places and States.

Campus Life

2

Campus life is always interesting in which soever college you are studying in. Here in OEC you'll have a great atmosphere among the batch mates. Truly speaking with my experience, there is too much unity Among the students and always create an healthy atmosphere during the breaks and bunks. Talking about the gender ratio, boys are more in no Than the girls and mostly the branch Cse, it and etc have girls in it leaving mechanical and civil with either none or few. In extracurricular activities there are music clubs, art clubs, gym, sports club for the same to do whichever activity they desire to do.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

Hostel was good to live at having a wonderful atmosphere with the same type of people in and around the place. Room facilities were quite good as well provided with the tables and chairs for studies and a quiet length bed to sleep. Not very warm neither too cold to live, it had an moderate temp for living. On the other part hostel food was the worst part of it. Quality was very bad and the food sometimes was not cooked properly. Even after several complaints, the management didn't took any actions regarding the food.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are very helpful in the college. Always over there to help and guide us for the best option to choose. Alumni connections are not created by the college and rather we have to keep that bond go between us.

Exam Structure

With over viva's and labs along with the assignments before the exams, the exams are conducted in a period of 1 month for each year expectedly with odd semester between nov-dec and even in the time of april-may. Sometimes large gaps are given between the two successive exams while sometimes 1-2 days are given in between. Vivas are conducted very tough and tight, and the invigilator is brought invited from the other colleges as well.

Admission

At first I had to go and talk in the admission Dept. They took the details like the Xerox sheet of my 10th and 12th mark sheet, my transfer certificate, migration certificate, jee marksheet print out. Then on behalf of me they registered for the OJEE. Then I had to attend the counseling process and the seat for the college was allotted to me.

Placement Experience:

I would rate the placements at my college as 3 out of 5. Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the sixth or seventh semester, and a few well-known companies do visit the campus every year. The placement cell helps with basic training like resume building and interviews, and many students, especially from IT branches, manage to secure jobs. At the same time, the average salary packages are not very high and top roles are limited, so a lot of students also focus on skill development, off-campus opportunities or higher studies after completing their degree

Students are eligible for placement from their 3rd year onwards. It has been only 2-3 months but I have seen several companies arriving at the college, prominent ones being Flipkar,Deloitte, Xerox, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Microsoft, Dell and several others including startups. There is no accurate data on how many offers have been made this year, but there are rumours that more than 95% of the eligible students have got placements. After getting a degree my plans are if I dont land into a satisfying job then I will start my preparation of the military or start a new business.
