Course Curriculum Overview

3

As for first year (or rather first semester) there are many irrelevant subjects such as Biology and a subject (as names by my college) named Universal Human Values and Ethics, and 'communication'. These subjects are totally irrelevant to what course I am doing, and to some extent they are totally irrelevant to engineering! The problem is, they also have a huge theoretical syllabus and we have to waste our time on learning it and their exams, the time which we could have used improving our skills in the language we are learning or learning a new computer language!

Internships Opportunities

1

I am a new student so I don't have much say in it! However what I see myself and what I hear from my seniors (3rd and 4th year students) is that internship opportunity is there, but is quite less! There is a huge competition among students as the offerings are quite less for companies and the offer amount from the companies is also quite low! The situation is like 1 internship offer for 50-60 students (can be worse) and companies really offer peanuts for internships! So, we can't rely on college provided internships and we have to work on ourselves and find jobs ourselves!

Fees and Financial Aid

The campus is quite large, and the infrastructure is pretty good. However, the faculty isn’t up to the mark. It’s tough to understand difficult topics because the teachers go through everything so fast, and with each class only being 50 minutes long, about 10 minutes are wasted just on attendance. They’re always rushing to finish the syllabus before the scheduled tests. For example, in physics, even though the teacher was moving quickly, we barely managed to finish the theory, and we hardly practiced any numericals—maybe 2 or 3 times at most. And since numericals are the heart of physics, we end up relying on YouTube and other online resources to actually understand the material!

Campus Life

4

I don't know much about fests and events that occur here as I am a new student (just 2 months here)! As for library, there are many libraries (almost every block has its own big library) which has many, many books! Classrooms are equipped with projector and ACs (however ACs are rarely turned on by the management). There are many extracurricular activities in my college! Almost everyday there are invitations from clubs and there are also decent sports facilities (open grounds for any sport, basketball courts etc). There are many student-run groups/clubs. Most of them are run by seniors (3rd year or 4th year)! They run clubs for almost anything (like coding, dance, arts, sports etc). It has a great impact on me as it helps me learn other things of my interest and have a change in life away from monotonous studies!

Admission

I chose this college because this college seemed to be better than other private colleges and I was easily able to get CS course! I didn't score quite well in 12th so my options were limited! Also I chose this college as I had previously visited it and I liked their campus (as it's quite big)!

Faculty

2.5

Faculty to student ratio is 1:70! However those are for classes of core subjects like Physics and maths! For CS subjects the class is divided in half (35-35) and they are taught separately so in most of the classes the ratio is 1-35 Most of the faculty are quite chill and friendly with students. However all of them teach too fast to cover the syllabus for the pre-scheduled exams! It's quite difficult to understand any important topic from them! We have to learn it either from someone else or online! As of first year, there are many exams! There are two sets of Mid Semester Tests (MSTs) which are like one to one and half month apart. And they have a lot of syllabus so to complete it teachers teach crazy fast! That's the biggest downside! The difficulty of the exam is moderate but we get quite less time to actually studi it all!
