Course Curriculum Overview
Computer science is the future. With the advancement of AI and Data science, It has made drastic changes in technology. If I'm being honest the course cirriculum was not adequate for real world applications as it is in every colleges. The course only teaches us the basic which is not adequate for real world problems and at some point it lacks to give us the experience and confidence that we seek. This course generalizes the knowledge about the technology and fails to deliver us with the specialization. Some improvement that I personally feel is converting theoretical classes into practical classes. The colleges should tie up with some companies for some free internships for its students as it will give them some experience and some confidence. Also I don't find any problems in the timing and frequency of exams, however exam paper should cover important topics and full marks should decrease to 60.
Fees and Financial Aid
I joined Dayananda Sagar University(DSU) through management quota in the year 2020. I have opted for B. tech CSE. For management, yearly fees were like Rs 3,03,500, So I had to pay Rs 3,03,500 for 4 years and Rs 5000 as security deposit only in the first year. There are other ways to join DSU, if you are karnataka native you can join through K-cet where yearly fees was Rs 1,00,000 approx and Other states students joined through Comed-K where yearly fees was Rs 2,68,000 approx. They also have a seperate entrance exam DSAT where the yearly fees in similar to comed-K fees. They don't have any seperate admission fees or development fees, everything is included in the yearly fees itself. There is no caste based fees structure. This fees structure was almost same for other CS branches. However the fees structure has changed a lot in the past few years. On this day, yearly fees for Kcet students is Rs 1,34,574 and for DSAT/Unigauge is Rs 3,54,000 and Rs 4,29,000 for management.
Campus Life
Dayananda Sagar institution consist of three campus together, Dayananda sagar university is one of them. They host big festivals for all three campuses together. There are 1 grand fest once a year for all the campuses combined and many small festivals in their own campus itself. Library is a good place as it has big with calm environment for reading and studying. It has wide varieties of journals, with facilities like computers or amazon but the books present are only related to academics. College building has a central air conditioner which keeps the classroom cool and It has digitalized board system for interactive study sessions and digital classes. Sports is something shouldn't talk about as it lacks the sport culture as it doesnt have any proper college team and management. Sports teams are basically managed by student localities who chose their friends. However there are many clubs inside the campus for arts, dance, singing and technology
Hostel Facilities
During my time, hostel used to be outside the campus. There were many types of rooms for 2, 3 and 4 sharing options where 4sharing was the best option with larger space and wifi. All the rooms have attached bathroom with a common bathroom at almost every floor. The Bathroom were cleaned daily. The food was good and they provide chicken/paneer 2times every week with curd and papad available everyday. They provide breakfast, lunch(served in campus itself), snacks like samosas and dinner. They provide unlimited milk and tea during breakfast and snacks. There was a TV in dinning hall which they never use. There was no play ground or space for any activity. Gym is a crap with damaged equipments. The registration is very simple but they charge too high for the hostel accomodation, I used to pay over 1.2lakh per year. Now the hostel fee is over 1.5 Lakh. So I rocommend if you are staying near innovation campus you to get a cheap PG in kudlu gate.
Admission
I had applied to Ramaiah engineering college, MVJ, AMC and DSU in bangalore through management quota. I got seat in MVJ , AMC and DSU. I have chosed this college mainly because of Placements. This college is considered as one of the top colleges in Bangalore because of Kumarswamy layout campus. I loved the food and campus and, Dayananda Sagar is a brand in bangalore. Also MVJ was having some bad records about student committing suicides and bad culture among student and teachers so I refrained from joining there. I didn't get into Ramaiah because college fees were too high almost 50-60 lakhs in 4years for management quota whereas in DSU 4years college fees were around 12.2 lakh. You need to score 50% in 12th boards. You can Join DSU through K-cet , ComedK , Unigauge and Dayananda Sagar Aptitute test (DSAT). K-cet students were charged the least fees where management pays almost 3times of k-cet. DSAT cutoff is too less and almost 60% of students appearing easily gets selected.
Faculty
Good faculty-student ratio and almost 70% of the faculties are approachable and friendly. During my time, Prof. Pooja Gowda used to be our Batch advisor, she was very approachable anytime over texts or calls during non-college hours and you can meet her during college hour anytim. She even took some remedial classes for weak students in every semester. Another was Prof Kalpana, she taught us programming, she was friendly, funny and approachable, Her way of teaching is very different. Prof. Mouleeswaran of Cyber Security is the one I used to hate as he is intolerant and doesn't give attendance to students where attendance was an issue in every college. His speeches were not almost audible. Exams section was divided into 2 parts where CIA (Internals, Seminars, reports and Projects) consists of 70marks and 30 marks Semester-end. Marks obtained in Semester is converted into 30%. You have to score 40 combined to pass the subject. Easy question paper which covers only important parts.
