NIT Rourkela - A personal perspective

The course curriculum is unique in its kind and it not only covers biology portions but also the modern day technologies applied in biological sciences. The areas of improvement are many more technological involvement can also be done . The mid semester usually takes place within 2 months of course starting and the end semester takes place after 3 months of course starting.

The internship opportunities are offered by many MNCs like Microsoft, Google , Amazon etc. The stipends offered range from 1 to 2 lakhs per month in the summer season. The projects are done with the faculties and in industry corporate exposure is given

From 7th semester onwards students are eligible for the preplacement offers by companies. Many companies like aditya birla , adani groups , Sri Chaitanya , reliance , Nomura bank , TCS , cognizant and Amazon visited the campus . The highest package offered was around 1 crore per annum. Around 70% student get placement. I am planning to opt for placements in a good company.

I will be paying 1 lakh per year. In the first semester while counselling process 40000 is needed to be deposited as seat acceptance fee. For students of SC / ST Categories academic fees is completely waived off and they pay only hostel & mess fees. institute also provides fee waiver on basis of parental income. For students having parental income between 1 and 5 lakhs then 66.67% tuition fees is waived off . For students having parental income less than 1 lakh the complete tuition fees is waived off.

The annual techfest is called innovision .the library is so huge and holds more than 50000 books and is air conditioned. The class rooms are well equipped with all the modern facilities. The institute has many student run clubs like coding club , book club etc. .

The hostel room has its own mess inside it . The room has charging points , two beds , two tubelights , one fan and one table for two people in double occupancy. The hostel registration takes place on the same day of admission.

Nit Rourkela has its own brand value hence choosing that can bring me great career opportunities. The admission is done by jee mains and to get here by home state quota around 95%le or 150 marks is needed in jee mains. Most people opt here from home state quota. For other state students the cutoff ranges from 98%le to 99%le.

The faculty student ration is around 1:20 but varies from department to department. All the faculties have their own academic offices and are approachable during office hours. I liked professor gopal krishna panda for his unique style of teaching. Around 5 exams are taken and assignments are given weightage. Out of 3 quizzes best of 2 is taken into count. Mid semester and end semester exams are mandatory and carry highest weightage together.
