Pros and Cons of NIT Rourkela

The course curriculum is very unique as it covers computer science and electrical engineering in most unique way possible. In the curriculum there are even topics of applied sciences like maths and physics. The curriculum prepares a student into an electrical engineer by providing enough infrastructure needed. Mostly exams occur once in 2 months after the semester registration has started.

Internships are done in both industry and academia. In academia students work with professors on research problems and in corporate sector they get industry exposure. The stipend is also as high as 1 lakh per month over the summer time.

From starting of the 8th semester students are eligible to do internships and get eligible for pre placement offers from their dream companies. Many tech companies like Amazon , Flipkart, Google, Microsoft visit the campus . Also non tech companies like Deloitte , congizant also visit. Highest package was around 1 crore per annum in international offer and average was around 20 lakhs per annum. I am planning to pursue higher studies after degree completion

The fee structure covers tuition fees and other miscellaneous fees. I am paying 1 lakh a year or 50000 per semester. For Sc St students 100% fee waiver is there hence they pay only hostel and mess fee. When the counseling is going on one has to deposit 40000 in the name of institute as seat acceptance fee. Then after getting into NIT ROURKELA the first semester fee is adjusted with it. The institute has fee waivers on basis of family income of a student. For students having family income between 1 to 5 lakhs , 2/3 rd of the fees is waived off. For students having less than 1 lakh family income whole tuition fee is waived off

The annual tech fest is INNOVISION . The fest host a lot of seminars,events and extracurricular activities in the campus. Students of other colleges can also participate by getting a visitor pass for the fest. Many student run clubs are there like the coding club (SPAWN) , cricket club etc.

The rooms are a bit small sized for double occupancy. There are 2 washing machines in each floor and also enough number of bathrooms are available. Each room has 2 beds , one table , 2 tubelights , 2 charging points and one storage space . Mess is in the ground floor of the hostel . The mess menu is quite good and they provide food 4 times a day.

I also got seat in other colleges but they were state level college and NIT is an institute of national importance. The admission cam be done through JEE mains scores only . Around 95-97%le is needed for getting into any branch though home state quota.

The faculties are great here . They are extremely qualified in their respective fields.the faculty student ratio is dependent on the department but is around 1 :20 on average. All of them are quite approachable . Almost all the faculties are kind enough and I like all of them . They are weel equipped with the latest developments in the field. There are mainly 2 kind of examinations, end semester and mid semester. Others are quiz lab exams and assignments etc. the attendance policy is quite strict . Minimum of 85% attendance is required. Around 5% people in a branch fail to clear all courses
