Course Curriculum Overview
I always excelled in mathematics in school. So, i decided to pursue it for higher studies. You should only choose this course if you want to make a career in mathematics field for example if you want to become a mathematics professor, go into research, become a data scientist or clear exams like JAM, NET, JRF. They do teach softwares like R which is very important but they should include more technologies and coding languages into the course as well. Special mention: if you want to pursue a career in data science i wouldn't recommend this course. I think a computer major would be more helpful.
Internships Opportunities
There is rarely an internship specifically for Mathematics course. Usually the companies that come here go for accounts majors and computer science majors. Also for banking roles. Enactus is the placement cell of this college and its really active and helpful.
Fees and Financial Aid
It was 14000/- per year so 56000 for three years. The numbers can go up and down a little bit. Also this was without exam fees. You would pay per subject based on the subjects you have through DU student portal.
Campus Life
The fests do take place yearly. There is fresher's party as well. Library is decent and well air conditioned with great accessibility if books and journals. There are no smart classrooms but the classrooms are huge and well maintained. If there is any lab work we go to computer labs which are also very spacious. There is sports team and people do play football, volleyball and badminton. They also host inter college tournaments. The societies are lively such as dance, art, drama etc. And there are some study circles like Ambedkar study circle etc. These did help me gain new perspectives in life and learn a lot.
Admission
I applied admissions online. As per my score, I couldn't get many colleges in North campus. I was hoping to get admitted into Venkateshwar. I was considering opting for Physics honours in venky or miranda college but i wasn't getting bsc maths honours in any of the two. So i chose course over college. Also, the best college in south campus (in my opinion) is still Venkateshwar and at second place i would say its ARSD.
Faculty
The faculties in the mathematics department are mostly approachable, kind and helpful. They are really attentive towards the students and are available even after lectures. Faculties are also lenient in terms of attendance. I belong to the covid batch so students did fail the exams a couple of times but it wasn't entirely faculties fault. Things were half online and half offline at times and the whole covid batch was a mess.
Other Applied Colleges
Miranda House | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Physics)
I didn't get Mathematics major in this college so i chose course over college
