I chose this course mainly because how student friendly it is. Not a lot of academic pressure so that we can focus on external learning and provide participation in different hackathons which will help us to be more skilled

Fees and Financial Aid

I joined Sister Nivedita University in 2022 to pursue my Undergrad in Btech CSE. The university has been a great place for my academic and personal growth. The total fees for this program is Rs 6,20,000. While it might seem on the higher side, the quality of education and facilities make it worth the investment. The faculties are always ready to help us with whatever we need. The campus is well equipped with mordern labs and comfortable classrooms. The placement cell is active and brings in reputed companies for campus drives. I would recommend this university for anyone who is willing to pursue this degree

Campus Life

There are a lot of fun clubs where one can indulge themselves in. Starting from music/ethnic clubs to sports or coding clubs, one will find everything here. There are a lot of student run initiatives in college as well

Admission

I did apply to colleges outside this state but chose not to go there as there's a higher cost of living. Moreover, this college indeed provides a great opportunity for us students who want to grow externally and be skilled

Faculty

The facult members are very friendly, knowledgeable and experienced with what they teach. They provide help to us with whatever we need. While some are more frank to us than the other, the overall student- faculty relationship is very strong

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

Insights of SNU

There are a few private colleges present in Kolkata which provides biotechnology but in my opinion the labs of those colleges are not as well furnished as ours. There curriculum is little different than ours. I didn't apply to any other colleges apart from Snu for biotechnology I sat for an online exam .And I cleared the test. Once you get a call you visit the college campus meet the faculty and the faculty may take a type of interview session The addmission process is smooth. But sometimes the staff members of admission makes blunder. My classes were about to start from 17 August, but they called me during July( because she didn't know that biotechnology does not fall under para- medical and made a mistake and for her mistake I had to suffer as I'm not a resident of Kolkata)...Read More
