Life in NIT R

The curriculum in national institute of technology Rourkela is same as all nits and iits in india. Curriculum focus on improving all students wether weak or strong . But to be honest it is outdated now. In 1st year all students irrespective of their vranch learn 80 %same thing.the need to focus on practical implications from the starting sem and to concentrate on the branch only. Exam frequency is good and difficultly is moderate

In the 3rd year students are allowed for internships . Many companies approach us for internships such as licious nvidia google texas instruments etc the interns get a decent stipend. Projects are a must to catch the sight of companies

Only 4th year students become eligible for campus placement. Many famous company visit us like google , microsoft , zomato , licious , texas instruments ,tata and many more. 90-95 % students gets placed and those 10% opt either for higher studies or start preparing for other exams. For me campus life is amazing it focuses on all aspects of life. Many clubs are present according to ones own intrest. Infrastructure is 7 on 10. There are decent no. Of fests main fest in NITRUTSAV held in February. Innovasion the tech fest is held in November. Cosmopolitan the multi ethnic fest COSMOPOLITAN. We can get books from library easily as a it consists of a vast range of books. The facilities in classroom are awsome 2 seater bench . Central ac classroom. Mic speaker system, digital board 2 projector. Sports are average in the campus tbh need to improve maintainance and provide more equipments for sports. Extracurricular activities are good . Many clubs are there which plays a large role in ones life

For 1st year boys they give a room for 2 students. 2 beds 2 table 2 chair in each room . Spaces for keeping things . For me room is smaller. Meal is 7 on 10 and have a large variety. Registration for hostel is easy and is very affordable. I have not net a single mate who have rented a room

I had got lot of emails from private colleges like lovely professional University. Pw ioi, and many more . But i chose nitr because of its fame and as its a institute of national level importance . I had applied for iit kgp iit bhu nit trichy but i didnot get by preffered branch in those colleges during josaa . Admission process is hectic. Admission will be through jee mains rank for btech courses. Cutoff for all these branch are available in collegedunia itself.

The faculty to students ratio is 1:7 . As per 1st year the profs have a very polite and good nature. The always want to help students and some also provide mobile no. So that students could Directly ask doubts in their Dm. For me Asim kumar naskar and arya priyadarshini are my favourite faculty because of their way of teaching , with a very good interaction with us during lectures. Sheshadev pradhan do know a lot of things but way of teaching is very poor. The curriculum here is same as all nits , iits 2 exams per sem one is mid sem(30marks) and other is endsem (50 marks) and 20marks internal assessment. Exams are moderated. Very few students fail because they don't even study before the day of exam .

There were no questions asked during admission.nor there was tests. The one and only way to get a btech seat here is through jee mains and through csab or josaa counselling. Preparing certificate and documents are equally hard as preparing for jee .
