Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The curriculum is upto date, unlike my belief that it was outdated, my doubts were very much clear when I had my first intership and my knowledge was sufficient enough for me to work there effortlessly. I would however expect more field visits and surveys from the department for us to learn more. Exams like sessional held after every 45 days and then comes the end semester, difficultly is variable, if you're prepared, its above average difficulty, if you're doing it in just one night, its really tough on you

Internships Opportunities

4

LnT and Jaypee and DMRC, many such internships are there, stipend is unlikely and roles offered are usually site survey and making a report of the visit and works. I was assigned an underground metro station construction site under lnt and the work was to get the idea of underground construction, and I also got the opportunity to visit one of their batching plants.

Placement Experience

3.5

7th semester, eligible for placement Last year data:: LnT, delloite, BEL, Seimens , Shree Cement etc No, of offers made: 26 Placed : 25 Total students eligible for placement: 45 Highest: 12lpa Average: 6lpa Percentage placement : 55.55% My plans are for a job in European nation

Fees and Financial Aid

I paid 16,350rs for first year and after that its been 13,800 for the next two, so there is no hike in fees rather, its been more cheaper in our case. The fees is same for all categories since its so affordable to begin with. There are scholarships given to students in newd and also on the basis of merit, the top 3 of the batches receive the scholarships every year. Tution fee: 2200 Examination fee:1000 Lab/Library fee: 800 Admission fee: 100 Curricular activities fee: 0 Games fee: 600 Other charges: 9100

Campus Life

4

Zephyr, Thrive, etc. held in the month of March. Books and journals are very much available in engineering libraries as well as central library of the uni. AC, projector and 24x7 electricity and wifi are available. Sports week and such events are held all around the year, and especially in Sept/Oct time. Inter college and inter departments, in all sports, badminton, hockey, football, volleyball etc. IGS-JMI, is a geotechnical society for civil engineering students, and ASCE group run by students.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Cooler, 24x7 electicity and water supply in the hostels. Mess food is good enough to not complain. It included various items to complete a diet. Hostel registrations is done right after admission and its very affordable, but hard to get due to shortage of vacancies. Hostels are very next to the campus and in a quiet place

Admission

I applied to Panjab University, in that B.E. in Chemical engineering from SS Bhatnagar college, and I also applied to PEC chandigarh, civil engineering only. I did not receive any rejections, it was my own personal decision to choose jamia, as it was more appealing to me and closer to my home, the quality of environment delhi promises is more than chandigarh. PEC Chandigarh might have been my college but the fees of it was sky rocket compared to Jamia's. My admission was done through JEE mains exam. Jamia requires a seperate registration also. Cutoff for civil engineering can lie anywhere between 80k rank of jee mains to 120000 rank

Faculty

4

Faculty to student ration, if we go by class to teacher, there is one teacher for 60 students, but overall civil engineering faculty have well over 20 teaching staff and all of them highly qualified in their domain, relationship is really casual as wel as respectable, teacher do provide their own personal numbers and respond to any query any time of the day. Dr. Shamshad Alam is the oldest and most reputable faculty of our department and is also the most likable, he is always eager to teach and is soft with his approach. Dr. Nazrul Islam sir is a bit strict but is very knowledgeable and encourages us to learn more. There are 2 sessionals and 1 end semester exam. Each sessional is of 10 marks and 5 marks are for assignment and rest for class performance. Total 30 marks for internal. And 45 marks for end semester.

Other Applied Colleges

Panjab University - [PU] | Bachelor of Engineering [BE] (Chemical Engineering)

I got admission in Jamia and saw a wider range of opportunities woth this decision

The placements of MAIT are decent as compared to market conditions. But the data shown on website or availble at various platforms is not the reality. The mass chunk of students who get a job are placed under and around 6LPA package.

When it comes to curriculum everything us fine accept 1st year curriculum. My branch is ece in 1st year i have to study chemistry and physics which is no use for anybody in future it is just waste of time pretty outdated. For 2,3 and 4th year curriculum is far better than what it is in 1st year. Odd semester starts form August and after 2 month we have to give midsem exam.1 month after midsem we have to give endsem. There is very short time period between midsem and endsem examinations.Even semester starts form January everything is same as that of odd semester.

Placements are good in DTU. Usually a student is eligible to sit in placements from 4th year. Last year 325+ companies visited the campus like google, abode, Amazon, Microsoft, zomato, samsung, maruti suzuki, etc. They all have made 2050+ offers. The highest domestic package was offered by Atlanssian of 82.05LPA. The overall average package was 16.71LPA. The average package of my branch (Production and Industrial Engineering) was 12.34LPA. And in tech branches like CSE, IT it was around 24-25 LPA. Almost everyone is allowed to sit for placements. In PIE branch around 60-65% of student got placed in on campus.
