Remarks

VSSUT is located in Burla which is a very small town and not much to see around. One can easily get bored around here if not involved in club activities. Also, it's difficult for girls around here because they have an in-time of around 7 pm which is kind of frustrating. Ragging is another issue and teachers are also kind of bullies. The only thing that interests me in this college is the Robotics Society of which I am a member.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The close curriculum is really hectic. I believe this college life with make one ready for the outside world but still, it's a bit too much. The curriculum is so tight it hardly leaves us any time for extra curriculum.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, my college does provide the opportunity for internships. In the month of January, a list of companies comes out who will be accepting internship applications from us. We have to select where we would like to do our summer I and submit a form. If the company accepts it request we can proceed with our internships in the summer. However most of these are training and don't offer a stipend but if one is able to get a paid internship on their own, the college supports the student and performs the necessary paperwork.

Placement Experience

2

Placements ate not very good, ahead for my branch. Very few students from electrical engineering get placed for a core job in the industry. It's mostly IT companies who are mass recruiting. CS and IT students have good placements. The highest package in the year 2018 was around 9 lakhs p.a. and the average package of the college in the same year was around 4 lakhs p.a.

College Events

3.5

We mainly have 3 events every year which include our sports fest ILLUMINA which has all sorts of sports events. Next, we have our Techfest which is SAMAVESH where we have many robotics events and also we have Maker's Fest. Lastly, we have our cultural fest VASSAUNT which has all sorts of fun events and concerts. Other than these each branch has its own fest every year. Also every 4 years we conduct a Grand Alumni Meet to gather all the alumni.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is really feasible and I wouldn't call it expensive although I'm from a middle class family. Most students get by without a student's loan. For NTFW students, the tuition fees are 20000 every odd semester and 13700 every even semester and 14000 for hostel fees. The fees are further less for TFW students and a little more for SSC students.

Fees and Financial Aid

As per my knowledge, my college doesn't provide any scholarship. However, there are loan facilities. There is a branch of syndicate bank inside the campus and they set up a desk near the auditorium on the day of counseling and they offer student loans.

Campus Life

2

In sports, there is football and cricket but without a proper field. Badminton and volleyball and table tennis along with normal athletics. Labs are all well equipped with experienced faculty. There are many cultural and technical clubs which include dramatics, literary, dance, music, and quiz clubs. For technical clubs we have SAE BAJA, SAE SUPRA, Idea and Innovation Cell, and Robotics Society is the best in terms of achievements. These clubs give students a real taste of engineering and a feel of what's out there in the world.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel infrastructure is not at all up to the mark. The buildings are really old and dusty. They are only painted and plastered every few years but that is even not done properly. New hostels are being constructed but don't seem to be finished in the next few years. However, they provide free WiFi with good connectivity and no water problem. The mess food is average.

Alumni/Alumna

The senior students are really helpful and friendly however before one becomes friends with a senior they have to go through a phase of ragging. This phase is not a good one however everyone I know, including me, always laughs while thinking back. Sure it was not pleasant but it did teach us a lot about life. Still, most of us are against ragging and it can be seen that the rates are going down every year and VSSUT will surely be ragging free in the near future.

Exam Structure

In total, we have 8 semesters. In each semester your 6th semester we have 5 subjects in each semester. 4 subjects and a minor project in 7th and 3 subjects and a major project in 8. Each semester we have a mid semester exam of 20 marks and an end semester exam of 70 marks and another 10 marks of attendance and assignments.

Admission

I got admission through JEE Mains. First I had to clear the exam and then wait for the college to start their admissions. Next, I filled out a form online securing a seat in an electrical branch and booked a date for counseling. I had to go to the college for the counseling where I submitted all the required documents. However, this process too an entire day.

Faculty

3.5

The senior faculty are really good at taking and they know their stuff. But the junior teachers seem to be faking a lot of stuff. They sometimes give faulty information on certain topics. Also, the lack of a proper student body allows the teachers to do their will and sometimes even mentally harass the students for marks and attendance.

I would rate the placements at my college as 3 out of 5. Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the sixth or seventh semester, and a few well-known companies do visit the campus every year. The placement cell helps with basic training like resume building and interviews, and many students, especially from IT branches, manage to secure jobs. At the same time, the average salary packages are not very high and top roles are limited, so a lot of students also focus on skill development, off-campus opportunities or higher studies after completing their degree

Students are eligible for placement from their 3rd year onwards. It has been only 2-3 months but I have seen several companies arriving at the college, prominent ones being Flipkar,Deloitte, Xerox, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Microsoft, Dell and several others including startups. There is no accurate data on how many offers have been made this year, but there are rumours that more than 95% of the eligible students have got placements. After getting a degree my plans are if I dont land into a satisfying job then I will start my preparation of the military or start a new business.
