What Students Say
Likes
- The campus is lush green and really huge. You can roam and explore the campus and won't get bored at all.
- The SRM Central library is great. You can literally find any book you need. You can go and study peacefully, and can issue and return books using automatic machine.
- The professors and teacher are highly qualified. They clear all the doubts I have and are really helpful.
Dislikes
- There is a mandatory 75% attendance to maintain, which all students are worried about.
- Getting medical leave is not easy, its a very tedious process.
- Language barrier between faculties. As sometimes, the faculties speak in their mother language with the students, which is difficult to understand
Course Curriculum Overview
My course is B.Tech in Electronics and Computer engineering. I chose this course for the better understanding of circuits before doing real coding. Also there are a lot of opportunities in this branch, as you can choose wheter you have to pursue your career in electronics or computer science (IT). This curriculum prepares me much better than ohers for real world as I have a better understanding about circuit boards before programming. Some improvements that can be made in this course is giving more emphasis on computer science rather than electronics. Rest it fine. My exams are held regularly and the level of exam is quite good which tests yhe knowledge about that particular subject.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for campus placements from 7th semester itself. Many companies visited this year such as Wipro, TCS, Adobe, JP Morgan etc. More tha 90 % of the students got placed this year. Almost every student gets placed. If you don't get placed then you can opt for Masters. If you work upon your skills, no one can stop ypu from cracking a good placement. My plan is to work upon my skills and to get a good placement from college itself.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees I paid: I am in Electronics and Computer Engineering (ECM), and I am paying Rs 275000 per year. Tution fees: CSE Core program : Rs 475000 per year Other CSE specialisations : ranges from Rs (375000 - 475000) per year Nanotechnology : Rs 400000 per year Aerospace : Rs 400000 per year Remaining Branches (ECE, Mech, Civil) : Rs 275000 per year Additional fees: Registeration fees: One time non-refundable fees of Rs 10000 Fees increase: There is no fees increase for the entire duration of your bachelors Scholarships: 1. Campus Life
There are many fests conducted here at SRM. The major grand fests conducted are AARUSH and MILAN. AARUSH which is a technical fest is majorly conducted in the month of september every year. There is a big Central library, where you can find every book you need. There are different floors for each department for eg Electrical, CSE etc. You can issue, reissue and return books very easily using automated machines. Every classroom has projectors and smartboard for professors to teach from presentation and explain concepts easily using 3D diagrams. There are many sports facilitiesuch as football grounds, hockey ground, basketball courts (both indoor and outdoor), badminton courts, cricket practice nets and much more. There are a large variety of clubs in which you can take part, which help a lot. Clubs allow students to meet people with similar interests. You can learn new skills through workshops, sessions and activities whichj are organised through clubs.
Hostel Facilities
I am in Oori hostel. Hostel room has AC and 2 fan. There is almirah to keep stuff. My room is 4 shatring. Variety of food is provided in the mess including north indian, south indian, and chinese. The quality of food is quite average and the food feels repetetive. The hostel booking takes place online after the counselling. The hostel is decently priced but not very affordable. You can also opt for PGs and flats near to the college. Some include Abode, Estancia etc. Abode flats cost same as hostel but provide way more facilities.
Admission
I applied and got admission in Lovely Professional university in Computer science and engineering, but there are better opportunities based on internships and other things here at SRM. I only applied for LPU and SRM and got admission in both the colleges. For admission in SRM, you need to apply for SRMJEEE examination. You need to have 60% in class 12th for admission. The cutoff for SRMJEEE varoies every year. You need to get approx. 5000 rank for admission in CSE and its various specializations.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is around 1:9 i.e. there is one faculty for every 9 students. Faculty to student relationship is really nice, the faculty is very helpful. My faculty advisor is Dr. S. Prasad Jones. He teaches us electrical and electronics engineering and is really nice. He is always keen to help us with the subject and all doubts regarding college. Our Physics teacher Dr. Shadak is not that great. He is not able to explain all the concepts very well to us. But that is just an exception. Rest of the faculties are good. There are four Cycle test and one end semester exam conducted. Till now only one cycle teast has been conducted. If you study, then its easy to score in exams. Very less number of students fail in exams. At last, all the tests conducted are relevant to the course curriculum.
