Course Curriculum Overview
The main reason I chose this course based on the curriculum was the fact that it had business integrated with it and I was always fascinated with business and management and thought that that's where I see myself getting a job. Teaching methods could get more hands on and more practical.
Placement Experience
From 5th semester onwards, pre placement offers start coming for students and they also get to start going for internships from this semester. A lot of big companies come during this time like Goldman sach, jp Morgan, Barclays, etc. for final placements Microsoft, zoho, Google and bigger companies hire from our college. As far as I know the highest package was 2 crores for an ECE student in 2022. My plans after getting degree is to get some work experience before going for higher studies.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yearly I pay 3,50,000 rupees for my course. I'm pretty sure the fees varies for management and for sc/st with it being lesser for the latter. It purely depends on your course, some courses are available for 3,00,000 while others like AI/ML can go upto 4,50,000 an year.
Campus Life
There are a lot of clubs in srm that you can choose to join, if that's what your liking is. There are two major cultural events for us engineering students, Milan and Aarush. Milan usually happens in march and Aarush in September. Our library has a very vast collection of books. Our college has a really good sports program and we have teams for various sports.
Hostel Facilities
During my stay in hostel, our room was a medium sized one with two cots and ample space for us to walk around. It had two tables, two cupboards, a fan, an air conditioner and a washroom attached to the room. The mess food is a huge hit or a miss- I'd give it a 6/10 overall because on certain days it's really poor. The registration for hostel is a bit hectic as lots of parents try at the same time and the site crashes.
Admission
To be honest I've only applied to this college as I had decided on this particular course (computer science and business systems) very late and by that time only a few universities were still open for admissions and had this course and srm as far as I had heard was one of the better options overall. Admission process is pretty smooth, there was no hiccups. It was based off our srmjeee exam results that we got our course and preferred university.
Faculty
The faculties are for most part approachable and kind. Some faculties like our faculty advisor dr Elangovan G are really helpful in terms of placements and mentorship oppirtunities. Without naming, there are a few faculties that are a bit difficult to get through in terms of classes. The exams are mostly easy to clear.
