Review of IIPE

There is no permanent campus yet as it was newly started and so we are restricted to certain things like less sports etc. The positive thing about our college is that our college is backed up by the navaratnas of oil industry(HPCL, ONGC etc). We also have the backup of IIT Kharagpur being our mentor and the permanent campus of IIPE is to be completed in about 2 years.

My branch is chemical engineering. IIT Kharagpur has taken up the job of mentoring us for 5 years and so the syllabus of IIPE is almost similar to that of IIT Kharagpur. Coming to the exma schedule, there is a mid semester examinations and an end semester examinations in each semester. Mid semester is for 30 marks. End semester is for 50 marks. And internals is for the remaining 20 marks.

As its a college that was started 3 years ago, no batch has left the college and so we don't have any idea regarding the placements but we are very confident that we will be getting placements from the oil companies as they are a part of our board of directors. Regarding internships, we were given internships in the top oil companies and even in institutions like ISRO.

As this is a college which was started just 3 years ago, there are not much nationwide fests that were arranged. Even then, we managed to conducts 2 fests every year, one sports and one cultural, inviting all the colleges of Vizag to participate in our events. We have also done many social activities for the good cause.

The fees is not very expensive. The fees is same as the NIT's of India which is 75000 per semester or 1,50,000 per year. Students may even get scholarships or aids depending on their financial background also.

Yes, college provides loan and scholarship facilities for the students of the lower category. The aid is based on either income or the caste. Below 5 lakh annual income students, get 25% of the fee refunded whereas below 1 lakh, students get full fee refund. Coming to the caste, obc get 50% refund while sc and st are given full refund.

As it is a new college, they are not many facilities as of now but the institution is trying very hard to set up labs, sports etc. For labs, we are using the help of Andhra University, Vizag which is a very old college and has a large number of labs. Regarding sports too, we use the grounds of Andhra University.

The hostel is very good and the management of the hostel maintains the hostel very neatly. There are exactly 4 hostels, one for each year and all the facilities such as food, WiFi , gym etc are well provided and maintained.

There is no alumni as of yet as indian institute of petroleum and energy was started in 2016 and no batch has left the college yet. Coming to the seniors, they are very helpful and they share each and every thing they get to know either about the placements, academics etc.

The faculty is good but slightly inexperienced. Most of the faculty that have been papointed till now have been contract based and so the quality of the teachers is slightly less. But the college has started recruiting permanent faculty and so the condition of the college has been improving at a very fast rate.
