Course Curriculum Overview

4

I decided to do B.tech as it is a course which provides a lot of exposure to different people having different perspective and I got the branch Electrical and electronics through my viteee rank and was not totally my choice. But the course curiculum is up to the mark. We have exams in every 1 month, moreover when we don't have exams, we still get too many assignments which keeps us busy but meanwhile these assignments let us learn more effectively. One thing that I don't like is the teaching methods, many professors just come and give a non-stop lecture and I am not able to understand anything and at last I have to study from youtube only. The exams are of moderate level so even if you start studying seriously one or two weeks before CAT, you can easily cope up with it. Also they are held so frequently that you get used to with it.

Internships Opportunities

4

Internships are provided in 3rd year and are also a part of the course curriculum. The college itselp provides many internship opportunities and it is compulsory for the students to apply for it. Many private companies offer paid internships to third year students. The stipend is about 3lakhs and more.

Placement Experience

4

After 7th semester, students become eligible to sit fir placements. Amazon, Google Microsoft, zomato, swiggi, TCS, Cognizant, Ford, TATA, Flipkart, etc are the top companies that visit our college and apart from them about 700 companies visit Vit chennai. The highest package this year was 1.2crores and average package was 9lakhs. About 8.5% students got placed. I plan to get a job with an attractive package in some north indian state if possible.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees is different for different categories based on your rank in VITEEE. Category-wise tuition fees of Group A(EEE, mechanical and other non core branches) and B(core branches): # For group A: Category 1 (rank: 1-20000): Rs.760000 #For Group B: Category 1: Rs.198000 Category 2(rank: 20001-45000): Rs.235000 Category 2: Rs.307000 Category 3(rank: 45001-70000): Rs.343000 Category 3: Rs.405000 Category 4(rank: 70001-100000): Rs.368000 Category 4: Rs.448000 Category 5(rank: above 100000): Rs.398000 Category 5: Rs.493000 The councelling fee is Rs.6000 The caution fee is Rs.3000 which is refundable. Admission fee is Rs.15000. Hostel fee for 3 bed AC rooms is Rs. 219k and varies by 7k for more no. of beds.

Campus Life

5

There are two fests in a year. A technical fest called technovit in september and a cultural fest called vibrance in february or march. They call big celebrities durung vibrance and students enjoy a lot however they also do charge alot for such fests. There is a central library in the campus, it has a good environment where u can study peacefully, you can also issue your course book for 14days. I do not have to buy any books, i just issue the required book during the exams and thats all needed. The classrooms do not have ACs which i hate because sometimes it becomes soo difficult to sit in class as the climate here is also very humid. I am just drained with sweat most of the time. Sports part is good. There basket ball courts, volly ball court, tennis cout and so on. You can play whatever u want and even participate in sports club if u r a sports enthusiast. There are manyyy many student run clubs, about 100 clubs are there, some technical and some cultural clubs. There are clubs whuch represent particular states. For example I am from UP, so i have taken part in "Sangam club" of UP. There are dance clubs, music bands, dramatics club and manyyy more. It is mandatory to take part in at least one club. It affects student life alot as i get to attract with many people and learn from them but the bad part is i hary get time after being engaged in such clubs.

Hostel Facilities

3

There are AC rooms and Non AC rooms. My room is a 3 bed AC room, it has bunker beds with a study table, cupboard and racks attached to it. I have to climb up to sleep which i dont like. 3 bedded rooms have less space. The fire alarm rings without any reasons and disturbs our sleep. Hostel allotment process was online. My room along with mess costed me 2.19 lakhs. Staying in PG is not allowed.

Admission

I had applied to IIIT Hyderabad, VIT and gave JEE Mains also. I wasn't able to make it to IIT'S and NIT's so I had to settle for VIT. Vit is good in terms of placements, exposure and infrastructure but I always feel that I could have made it to IIT if I had not got sick for a long duration during my JEE preparation. In comparison to other private colleges, VIT is at 3rd rank and it is also above in ranking from some of the new IIT's. The admission process for VIT was very smooth. From coucelling, admission, fee payment to selecting hostel rooms, everything was done online and we didn't even had to visit the campus for it. During the admission process each new update was available on the college website. You just have to keep a regular check on the website otherwise you will miss out some important update. The eligibility criteria is 60% in 12th board exams and clearing viteee exam. VITEEE doesn't specify the cutoffs however if your rank decides which campus and branch u can get.

Faculty

3

The faculty to student ratio is 1:17.3 and the relationship between faculty and student differs for different faculties. Some professors are very chill, they give you extra time for your assignments if you had a genuine reason whereas some are very heartless as they won't give you extra time even if you were sick. The students have also created a blacklisted faculty list where you can know in detail about each professors, if they do strict or linient marking. I liked Dr. Angelin Beulah, she is very caring abot our progress towards the subject. She gives us many practice assignments with alot of duration so that we can learn at our pace. I didn't like my Calculus faculty as she is very hard on us at times and also we have a subject called qualitative skills which seems useless in first sem but the faculty too chill. Gives attendence easily. There are 3 exams, CAT1(moderate), CAT2(tough(open notes)) and FAT (moderate). The course curiculum seems up to the mark and contains right content.
