What Students Say
Likes
- Really good campus environment. It’s very neat and tidy with a lot of shops and places to enioy.
- The management is not strict. You can talk to anyone at anytime unless you are in class. I heard that in some colleges, they won’t let you speak with the opposite gender.
- The college provides a lot of materials and opportunities to improve yourself and your career
Dislikes
- ROI (Return of Investment) might be very low. We will be paying around 20 lakhs for 4 years and compared to that, the average package in SRM is very low.
- Most of the teaching faculties are not even fluent in English
- A lot of written work even tho you are a Computer Science student. They literally make you write codes instead of typing them in a compiler which makes zero sense.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is fine. What they are teaching will be applicable in real world. They also have some subjects where you can just rest and do something peacefully. You don't have any exam for that subject. Other subjects, the curriculum is fine but the frequency of exams are pretty bad. They come very fast which is hard to manage for us.
Internships Opportunities
Since I am in the second year only, I don't have a much clear idea of what all companies are coming here for Internships. I think TCS, Zoho and all are in contact with our college and Zoho is a growing company so it's good. As you know, you can do a lot of online internships and I already did 2.
Placement Experience
Well I heard the placements are fine here. Average is like 7.5 lakhs or something which is actually less compared to the fee you are paying here but still if you are too good in the course you have taken, then you can get good placements because companies like Amazon, Microsoft and all comes here for placement so better improve our skills and that's it
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees I have to pay for one year is 4,50,000. They had some scholarships based on SRM Entrance Exam ranking, but I wasn't eligible for that as I didn't prepare for the exam and wrote it very casually because I was not really planning to come to SRM. Then they had some other scholarships based on some NRI things, Army and for some special categories etc. Also, it is told that we will get a scholarship if we get more than 9 CGPA in first year. I got 8.87 CGPA in first year so I can't apply for that. But one of my friend who got 9.8 CGPA told that she also won't get it due to some reasons which she didn't mention clearly so I don't know if this scholarship thing is real or not. Also, all of my friends are paying 4,50,000 as fees. Every other fees mentioned above in the question comes under this 4,50,000 which means they don't ask for any other additional fees. Only when it comes to the semester exam time, we have to pay 3,200 (may vary) as exam fees and that's one year fees. Hostel charges are also there but I'm staying outside in a PG so not really sure about that. I got ECE first, then we went to the management and changed it to CSE, so for that as management fee we had to pay 1.5 lakhs. Thats it.
Campus Life
The campus life here is very good. Very eco friendly campus where they clean the campus every here and then. You have a lot of shops for everything. You can hang out with your friends in the campus itself which is also a nice thing. There are a lot of clubs and all so you can join for that also. A lot of events will also be taking place here.
Admission
Well, I heard that SRM is a good college with a great campus, good placements etc. Also a lot of North Indian students are coming here so I can improve my communication skills. That's why even tho I am from Kerala, I came to SRM. I wrote VITEE also but I couldn't clear the exam. After VIT, I think SRM was the best so I came to SRM. The only negative thing I feel here is the fee structure which is too high.
Faculty
I clearly don't know the faculty to student ratio. The approachability of the faculties actually varies. It depends on how each on of them are. Some are very cooperative and some aren't. But here, most of them are really cooperative and nice. You can ask them for doubts and you can approach them for anything. That way, they are fine but skill wise, most of them are poor. Some faculties doesn't even know how to speak in English. Some won't even teach properly. Priya Mam is a very good faculty who currently teaches DSA. She teaches very well, really good in English, you can approach her anytime you want, and even if you ask doubt for the 100th time, she will clear it for you. Class Tests come very often. One test will be over and the next week you will be having another. That's kinda stressful. Like 20-25% might fail. Others will get atleast pass mark.
Other Applied Colleges
