Decent college with no extracurricular activites

The college is good for a nerd who is always wanting to study but really frustrating for a student who wants to participate in extracurricular activities, specially cultural activities like dance and drama. Also, college is good for departments like CSE, IT & ECE considering placements but absolutely a waste of money for other departments.

In btech there are seven departments-CSE, IT, ECE, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Instrumentation. There are 8 sem exams and before each sem exam there are two internal tests. The college is under Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology.

Placement is okay. For CSE and IT department, 70-80% placement is guaranteed. For ECE, it's 50-60%. But for the rest branches the placement figure is really poor as most of the companies visiting are IT companies. Also, the college comes under Techno India group(Kolkata). So for every company, you have to go to Kolkata to appear for the rounds.

Fee structure is very feasible as compared to other private colleges. It's around 50k per sem. Hostel charges are around 15k per trimester and mess charges are around 2200 per month. So it's quite feasible.

I have not availed any scholarship. But there are students in my class who are below poverty line and have taken admission in the TFW(Tuition fee waiver) quota. Also, there is scholarship for OBCs, SCs and ST's.

Labs are equipped with ACs while classrooms are non AC. Extracurricular activities are not encouraged much by the faculties. Attendance is given a lot of importance. Sports activities are encouraged but only cricket.

Hostel infrastructure in okay. There is WiFi and 24hrs electricity. But the mess food is horrible. There are 3 water coolers and a courtyard for playing. There are footballs and badminton rackets etc for us to play. Also, there is a TV in the common room.

Alumni and seniors are very helpful. They share with us their placement and interview experiences and are very humble. But there is no such thing like Alumni meet or Convocation ceremony in the college. The Alumni is connected with us through Facebook groups and whats app

Facilties are OK. Very less faculties are PhD holders and maximum are Assistant professors. They focus more on bookish knowledge than practical knowledge. Also, teachers don't support extracurricular activities. ECE faculties are the best though.
