Likes
- Infrastructure of the college is very vast. Student's who know how to properly utilize them will be benefited
- Food is available in every main building like tech park and UB. Java canteen is the biggest canteen which is like a food street and is affordable. Many events are organized.
- Many other co curricular activities are good. There is a very good college life awaiting for you if you properly look after yourself. The packages might be low but everyone gets placed
Dislikes
- Crowd. Due to high intake the college is completely crowded
Course Curriculum Overview
Computer science is a very big industry. So there are many opportunities in it that's why I opted for it. My specialization is Computer networking. Networking is very important in everyday work. So it has good scope. There is no real world problem solving from college's side. Exams are conducted once a month. Which is a problem for students as they don't get enough time to concentrate on other skills
Placement Experience
According to my observation students where able to grab placements from their 6 semester. There are many MNCs which comes to the campus which includes Amazon,Microsoft and mass recruiters like infosys and etc. This year the highest package as of october is 52 lakhs and it was offered to one person. Around 90% of the student's get placed and the rest 10% are left behind because of their arrears or other interests. I plan to crack a package above 10lpa and after few years I will be starting my own start up in my interested domain.
Fees and Financial Aid
I pay 375000 for 1 year(2 semester) for my course Btech computer science with specialization in computer networking at SRMIST Kattankulathur. They don't provide any uniform, materials in that fees. We have to buy them on our own. There is no subsidy for reservation students. But there are many scholarships which include SRMJEEE( rank below 1000) or jee(above 90%ile). There is also sports quota which students may avail. The fees structure may change from course to course.
Campus Life
Milan and Aarush are two big events that are conducted once a semester. Aarush is held around October and milan is held in march. There is a big library which is the central library of SRM.They provide every possible books(Academic) including competitive exam reference books. Every class has a projector, centralized AC,good lighting, and wifi connection. Sports is focused on a particular scale. There are n number of groups in SRM
Admission
I have applied for many colleges which includes Manipal, lower NITs, and many other private institutes. I took a drop for jee and scored 85%ile in mains. But after my jee, my main motive was to join in any good college which I het through comed k. But due to very high competition i was not able to crack comed k as well. When compared to manipal, very low class NITs and other private colleges, srm was the best option I could choose. The admission process was pretty simple. I gave srmjeee exam in online mode and got selected in it with a reasonable rank, then the college guided me throughout the process.
Faculty
Most of faculties are very friendly and their level is way much higher than student's expectations. A faculty maybe handling 300 students in total which includes scholars, detained students and students. We can directly approach the faculty for any concern. Dr. Vadivelu, he is my chemistry professor he is a wonderful person, very friendly in nature. There are many faculties whom I don't like but what they are saying is to maintain the college's decorum. Students who are average can easily pass the exams.
