- The degree is flexible you can complete it between 3-7 years as required. The degree is valid till then and you can take your own time to complete it properly.
- The most affordable yet very informative and detailed course that is specially crafted to gain more knowledge of than what is taught in normal colleges .
- The deadlines for the assignments and practicals are manageable and even if you end up getting late sometimes they help you out and let you complete and submit it without pressurising or anything.
Dislikes
- The communication is very unclear from their side and can be very messy if you end up missing dates or deadlines or any important information.
- The books arrive when half the year is over. They may or may not arrive by post and you're not always updated about it. It depends.
- This degree being in distance learning needs a lot of help and can be difficult to cope up sometimes
Course Curriculum Overview
I was not able to decide what I had to further in my life when my parents introduced me to psychology but till the time I did get an idea it was too late that's when I reasearched online and discovered IGNOU and the reputation getting a Degree from IGNOU has I was impressed and immediately decided to go for it. And I wouldn't say I regret my decision specially because I saw the contents of the course and it amazed me . Tge variety of subjects it has in one degree and forensic a subject that is to be taught in the third year specially caught my eye and influenced my decision as well. The curriculum is way way better than the normal psychology degrees that we get. It is extremely detailed and is specially crafted by a group of faculty to prepare the students completely to be the best and understand everything before the degree is over. The way the chapters are explained is very easy and simple to understand and is not very complicated or does not beat around the bush when it comes to text books. It being a distance learning degree teaching is out of question but whatever is taught be it during the practical or anything else is taught in a way that makes sure you'll understand everything and get a hold of it. The exams happen twice every year one in June and one in December you can give it whenever you want according to your preparation and convenience which the best part about this degree and makes it easier to pursue. The only con is that Psychology requires more exposure which we do not get when we get a distance learning degree and things are not taught so you cannot rely on anything but youtube. The communication is not clear and updates are rarely given on time which can be the biggest con .
Fees and Financial Aid
The total fees of the course should be around 12000 approx for a degree of three years which is more than affordable and feasible in all ways considering the heavy costs needed for getting a good degree these days. It is the best option for everyone who's willing to learn and get multiple degrees over a period of time and not spend a fortune to do that.
Campus Life
It being distance learning there's none of all this but the college where my centre is huge and very beautiful it's almost as big as 5-6 schools combined and put together in one place. So it all depends on the centre you get for your examination and course. Here in my city that is the only centre which has psychology so I have no option it's a little far but other than that it is very good.
Admission
I had already applied to one college same distance learning itself but due to some personal reasons I couldn't attend or complete the same. Hence I decided to complete the degree once again but with better syllabus. No I not get rejection from any colleges as I had taken two gap years to pursue my German it would've been a mess to get the gap certificate and to start college all over again hence applied for a more feasible option and am thankful for it. The admission process here is very easy and doesn't need a ton of money to be thrown for education and is actually very good curriculum wise. There is no cut off as such it is open for all and very flexible.
Faculty
The college faculty is good . But it always depends centre to centre the staff sometimes is proactive in sending out the necessary updates and information like practical dates etc. and at time you don't receive any communication from their side at all. They expect us to keep calling the centre and asking for updates all the time which might lead to missing a few things or there might be a jumble up . They are good but hopefully they can improve the mode of communication, updates and help out students as all of us are new and are in dire need of guidance. Other than that my experience so far has been nice. The course is of I'm not sure how many credits exactly but is divided into 6 semesters in the period of 3 years. As you move forward you get to choose you niche subject among other important subjects which are actually helpful in becoming a psychologist. So all in all the course is pretty amazing. The exams are very easy as long as you have read and studied you can write and ace the exams . They are very basic long answer questions from the book if you know the book just by knowing it you can write the whole paper. I studied in the last 3 days of my papers and got 75% imagine how easier it would've been if I would've studied earlier. So the exams are not that complicated. The exams just happen once for the whole year there is only one theory exam and one term end practical exams with whatever number of practicals you hav.e
