Well, there are very few of them out there. Most of the teachers are postgrads from the same university or some local college from Anna University. The apathetic nature of professors in the curriculum is one of the main reason for the age old outdated syllabus. They don't bother to create that extra interest in students, which is again a quality of a great teacher who is a rarity. I found only two excellent professors with PhDs from IIT in my 4 years of undergrad. They helped me a lot and are still in touch. My friends say that I was lucky to find one or two of them at least.

SRM has a very large number of students. And when I say LARGE, I really mean it. The placement committee tends to get recruiters who hire in large scale. So TCS, Accenture, Wipro etc., most of the IT companies are the main recruiters here. They offer the standard 3 point something package. There are good opportunities for CS, Mech undergrads as there were few good core companies which offered 6-7 lakhs. If only for placements I could give a one and half star as they concentrate more on quantity than quality(which we measure with the CTC).

Here we have to pay semester wise fee for computer science department fee for per semester is 350000 and for other branches its around 250000.And the students who score good Mark's in their semesters got scholarship here.

There are people who speak Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, Assamese, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya, Rajasthani, Gujarati, Konkani, Chinese, and a bunch of Nigerian languages like Hausa, Igbo. I know a Nigerian guy who was going out with Tamil girl and a Punjabi guy with a Chinese girl. And relationships among Indians who speak different languages are very common. English is spoken usually on the campus, but you are also most likely to hear Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. There are a number of Chinese students in the college and also Nigerians, who are supported by their government with scholarships. Few of them are over 40 who are extremely interested in studying.
