- Students from all the parts of the country come here so we get a good exposure of all types of people.
- As collage is located in the heart of varanasi, so it is well connnected and the student life is very good.
Dislikes
- Male to female ratio is very low. for every 4 male there is 1 female .
- The infrastructure of the collage is quite old.
- The campus unlike other iits is not closed. So security can be a issue especially for girls.
Course Curriculum Overview
I had preference of electronic engineering but as per my jee rank i got mechanical engineering. It is also quite good branch with a wide range of opportunites. The curriculum is lastest updated and courses such as manufacturing practices and labs prepare us for future industrial jobs. There are many irrelavant courses as of humanitites and music,dance. There is no reason for these subjects. The difficulty level of the exam is higher in the midsem compared to the endsem which carry high weightage and is also easier relatively .
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees in my collage IIT(BHU), varanasi depends on the category to which you belong. I belong to the general category. The fees can be divided into two parts- academic fee and mess fee. Mess fee is compulsary fee and everyone irerespctive of categopry and gender have yo pay it. The academic fee consists of many components including a tution fee of 1 lakh and additional charges of gymkhana , library ,security etc. There is a complete fee waiver for SC/ST students of tution fees means they have to pay 6000 fees of additional charges in addition to mess fee of 15k. If your family income is between 1 lakh-5lakh there is 66% tution fee waiver .If annual family income is less than 1 lakh then also there is complete tution fee waiver. So as i am from general category my tution fee is 106 thousands and 15000 mess and hostel fees.There is no merit based scholarship as offered by the institute.
Campus Life
The campus life is very good. The institute is situated in the heart of varansi city with many spiritual places and ghats to visit. There are many restaurants and clubs nearby.As the intake in the collage is quite good so there are many people and many clubs. So if you have any intrest in any domain you will get people matching youre intrests. There are clubs for sports,drama ,singing ,dancing, robotics, automobile, atronomy ,rocket, aeromodelling ,programmer and many others.
Admission
The admission process of the collage is through a nationwide exam called jee. This exam is held in two stages - mains and advanced.In jee mains you are asked mostly formula bsed questions while in jee advanced you are asked deep questions of the topic. Jee mains is of 300 marks with physics ,chemistry and mathematics each of equal weightage. JEE advanced total marks are different each year with physics ,chemistry and maths of equal weightage . So i had scored good marks in jee advanced exam and through that i got this collage. I have not faced any rejecion from any collage. The cutoff for my brach of mechanical engineering was Air-6500 in open category.
Faculty
The faculty to student ration is quite well and is among one of the highest in all iits. In our brach there are 40 professors and there are 200 students. And there are many tutoring assistants also.There are many good professors prashant shukla, anubhav sinha, Ap.Harsha. I personally dont like professors named swapnil patil as he made our PHY-101 COURSE a hell. in EVERY semester there are mid sem exam and an end term exam carriying almost 50% weightage. The teacher student relationship is quite well and depends if the students are willing to participate in the class.
