What Students Say
Likes
- I appreciated the fact that networking was encouraged in the college, There were many clubs which help you level up according to the industry standard.
- There are a lot of events happening here and there like hackathons, contests, quizzes etc. for good engagement.
- Infrastructure is insane. you have Mac labs, Smart projectors, specialty labs, Club labs and much more
Dislikes
- The teachers are a little egoistic, so, got to treat them nicely (the less knowledgeable the more ego).
- College is a little stingy if you got an off-campus internship. Until and unless you have landed a fortune 500 company's internship, there will be no on-duty allowances for internships.
- The college forces you to release a research paper for all your projects and is very stingy regarding the format. they will change it themselves and expect you to know it already wasting a lot of paper and money.
Course Curriculum Overview
I had a cybersecurity minor, no reason perticular to choose that course, it just sounded nice. There is no relation with the curriculum and real world, for that you require extra hours to learn the industry standards. They can have a slightly better curriculum by updating it to mordernm standards and keep a proper Industry standard training runs (CCC would not cut it). every minth there was an exam, i think it is quite perfect but they need to learn how to finish syllabus before the tests.
Internships Opportunities
2024 batch had little to no options for internships, but Honeywell, ABinBev, JP Morgan and MiTACS came for internships. they gave good mentoring and some very tough projects to make students grow. Infosis collaborated with Apple to teach students Swift programming, presentations and musch more.
Placement Experience
you become eligible the moment you reach 3rd year. many companies visit SRM like AWS, Honeywell, Delloite, Samsung, ABinBev etc. Hieghest packages are mostly Off campus, on campus hieghest was 50 lakh (Delloite) percentage of getting placed is quite high (80-90%) but those are mostly non-tech jobs.
Fees and Financial Aid
- 7 lakh per year to pay, can get an excellence scholarship I had 50 per cent according to my Boards and JEE mains rank. - No registration Fees as such but you have to give an extra 2 - 3000 per semester for exams. - you have to avail Scholarship every year.
Campus Life
Milan and aarush are to big festivals, they both are a treat! they can be held whenever they have enough funding, mostly 15th of any month they take place. Library has almost whatever you might need academically. Faclities are as you expect in a college, cafeteria in every building, vending machines for sanitery pads, etc. I cannot comment on sports as I was not a part of it. Clubs have the biggest impact on development as they teach you how to be professional and leadership skill development is prominant.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are alright but the mess food is horrendus. one can only eat breakfast because they serve bread. Hostel bookings are online and is very smooth (sometimes, the website breaks, expected as thausands of people log in at the same time) I moved out in a year and tried every PG there. Ecstancia is the best, Its overpriced but comfort is there Mini matrix is the most affordable and closest to college. its the best option but is always booked. Abode is again a good, inexpencive option. THe most networking will happen here.
Admission
I applied for MNIT, LMNIT, VIT, Manipal. didn't get into MNIT and LMNIT, didn't get the course I desired in Manipal. VIT was just too strict with their policies so I crossed that option. admission process is quite simple, you contact them, fill a form, get credentials of admission portal. if selected apply for your preferred feild and pay.
Faculty
Faculty student ratio is alright, Faculty is fairly reachable if you have a good one, bad ones just make you run behind them. I liked Balasundaram (NWC) sir the most, very polite and reachable, he was not my teacher and still helped me with every thing. Angayarkanni ma'am is the best project manager ever, very understanding and lenient. I didn't interact with any bad ones personally, but Joseph (NWC) is the one every one should fear as he actualy ruined a student's life just because he didn't like the guy, hence, failed him. When asked for a reason, said that the student has bad influence (The student had 9.8 GPA in every other semester). Exams were very balanced, we could see some stuff out of syllabus but will get grace marks for it (If we know it is out of syllabus).
