Excellent in academics, the students got a good exposure to industry due to presence of a huge steel industry in the vicinity of the college.

Divided into 8 semesters the 4 yr course had a common curriculum for all branches in the first year branch electives were available in the final year electives included chem engg mathematics mass transfer graphic design & graphic statics machine design.

No stipend offered companies coming for internship included steel authority of india limited in those days, we had to arrange for our own internship those who could not arrange on their own were herded into rourkela steel plant, sail.

In those days placement was not so rosy about 30 40% of the total strength got placement through campus interviews the companies which recruited students were hindustan lever, itc, ballarpur industries limited, indian rare earths limited, sanderson industries, jayshree chemicals packages ranged from a meagre rs 2400 p.m in sanderson industries to rs.4000 p.m. in hll.

It was not at all expensive my admission fees were rupees 704=00 we had to pay a fees of about rs.76 four times in a semester there was also an exam fees of rs.220 once in each semester.

Never had the opportunity to avail any scholarship they were available but i never availed them scholarships were of 2 types merit & merit cum means.

Gender ratio was heavily in favor of males say 5:1. for every 5 males there was 1 female extracurricular activities reigned supreme with very frequent hostel parties.

Clean and tidy spacious rooms and well kept gardens were the hallmark toilets were clean 2 no of mess were available north indian & south indian u could choose either food was good.

No interaction with seniors juniors we do have an alumni assocfation called nitraa apart from holding regular meetings with college authorities it also helps needy students compared to the college,nitraa is a fledgling.

Pressure of academics was felt only during exams which were well spaced out with adequate time to study on most of the days we would chill out and have fun.
