Course Curriculum Overview

3

I was interested in the computer science course and thus I chose this course. The curriculum follows the usual way of teaching and book-based learning. However, this makes the students quite unworthy of real-world challenges. The curriculum and teaching methods can be changed by introducing peer bonding sessions, hackathon clubs, and pairing up students so that each of them can help each other in their studies. The frequency of the exams is quite okay and it does not as such create any pressure on the students and the difficulty level is probably higher than that of Makaut.

Placement Experience

2

From the 7th semester, students become eligible for campus placements. There have been quite a few companies that have visited the campus like Nutanix, Accenture, Deloitte, EY GDS, IBM, etc. Variable packages ranging from 4-11lpa have been offered. Till now the percentage of students getting placements is relatively low.

Fees and Financial Aid

Year wise payment : 1.62lacs as each semester is 79k + 2k (exam fees) Tuition fees which include the laboratory and development fees as well: 6.48lacs At the beginning of the course, you will be charged 5k for your uniform and bag. For different fests, a variable amount could be asked which needs to be paid. The fees for BTech are almost equal. However, if some students register in Computer Science with Google Cloud Benefits, they will be charged around 1lac per semester. Yes, there are scholarships available, including government-approved scholarships like student credit cards, SVMCM, etc.

Campus Life

4

Cultural Fest: Sahotsava (July) Tech Fest: Vivarta (September) There are a number of books and journals available in the library and students can borrow them via library card. Football and cricket (ig) are practiced. There are student groups such as GDSC, Sanskaran, Vivarta Group, etc.

Admission

I applied to St.Xaviers for a BSc. Computer Science and got a confirmed admission. However, it is a BSc. course I decided not to pursue it. One can get admission through JEE Mains, WBJee etc. Also there are management quotas for direct admission.

Faculty

4

The faculty-to-student ratio is quite messed up at 1:60. But yes, the teachers are approachable and helpful. I shouldn't name my faculties and mark them as favorites but then again I liked my Computer Architecture Ma'am. She is middle-aged and extremely friendly. Her teaching method is quite nice and one can easily understand and learn just by seeing the notes. The AI faculty is also extremely learned and knows a lot. Fortunately, all my faculties were quite nice and thus I wouldn't say I have any teacher whom I don't like. Currently, the exam pattern has changed and students need to give 2-3 mid-term assessments which are 20 marks each followed by 60 or 80 marks for written end-semester exams. There are lab exams with viva voice in finals. Also at the end of the semester, an ESD(Entrepreneurship Subject Domain) presentation is held where each group which consists of 5-6 students from variable domains presents their ideas and projects in front of a jury panel.

Night Life

2

No such nightlife on campus. Campus timings are 9 am to 7 pm at most. Students are not permitted to be on campus late at night. Hostel facilities are not as such available. Students mostly live as paying- guests or in flats.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
