Remarks
The college has been quite good. The teaching faculty is good. The academics are good as well. But it would have been better
Course Curriculum Overview
The course I took was B.Com (Honours) in Corporate Finance Integrated with CPA, US, and EA, US. B.Com (Honours) in Corporate Finance is a three-year course. After passing the bachelors degree, students have to do a one-year internship. The eligibility criteria for an Indian candidate when applying to the CPA exam are as follows: The candidate ought to have completed 120 credit hours of graduate-level education in commerce, finance or accounting. However, as a Bachelor’s degree in India is earned after three years, the candidate has acquired only 90 credits*. Hence, it is recommended that the candidate enrolls for a Master’s degree which will earn him 150 credits or any PG diploma. Alternatively, a candidate can enroll for Miles’ CPA Review facilitated ‘online’ Post-Graduate Diploma in Public Accounting. A candidate also has the option of enrolling for a Post Graduate Diploma in Strategic Finance as a bridge course to garner an additional 30 credits. Yes, the course curriculum and exam structure are relevant, research-driven and fair.
Placement Experience
The placements are pretty good at Jain University. Many of the students get placed in Bosch, Mahindra, and other good companies. Some of the students even got placed in IT companies. It was nice to see many of our seniors getting placed in the core companies. There are many entrepreneurs too, who were supported by different companies like HMS, TCS, etc.
College Events
There are various events celebrated at this college. Freshers day is celebrated for all the freshman students and farewell is celebrated for all those students who will pass out from the college. There are also several cultural programs like ethnic day, singing and dance competitions, etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
I did not opt for any scholarship or education loan. But the college provides scholarships for students scoring high marks on their class 12th boards.
Campus Life
Campus life is good. There are three canteens on the campus. The college has more boys than girls but they haven't calculated the exact gender ratio yet. There is a lot of diversity among the students. Students from north India, northeast India and also from neighboring states of Karnataka take admission in Jain University.
Alumni/Alumna
Yes, the alumni network is good. They are helpful for some students and help them in getting placements.
Admission
The online application form was available online since the beginning of 2018. I filled up the form for Rs. 1000. The online form also asked to attach the mark sheets and necessary documents. After submission of the application form, I was informed that the Jain Entrance Test (JET) was scheduled on 18th May 2018. Fast forward to 18th May, the JET was conducted on the sixth floor of the building. Shortly after the entrance test, there was a group discussion. After the group discussion, the students were informed that those who qualified the GD and passed the test will be called again the next day for the Personal Interview. The next day, I was called for the Personal Interview. The interviewer asked the basic questions. The interview went well. Shortly after a few days, the selected students got messages that they are eligible for the college and asked to take admission.
Faculty
The faculty of Jain University is quite good, with well-qualified teachers who are very eager to make students understand things. They are supportive and friendly. The faculty comprises of graduates from top universities of India. There are various faculty for commerce subjects, sports, yoga, etc. Counselors are also available here.
