Entrance Preview
EAMCET is the entrance test to get an admission into this college. My rank was 10526 (general category) in EAMCET 2011. At the time of my joining , Vijayawada was the 3rd largest city in the combined state of Andhra Pradesh and since PVPSIT was the 2nd best college after VRSEC in my city, I opted for it.
Course Curriculum Overview
The college is Autonomous and permanently affiliated to JNTU Kakinada. Since becoming autonomous in 2012, the curriculum has become more rigorous and practical oriented. Omission of unnecessary subjects and timely placement of various subjects across the 4 year course is also a marked change from the university curriculum. Regular assignments and tests ensure that the students study regularly and do not get accustomed to overnight mugging before exams.
Internships Opportunities
The internship opportunities are less and this is a major drawback. But for EEE students, the VTPS (largest powerplant by generation capacity in the state) power plant offers internships every summer and this internship will help you gain first hand experience about the power generation and operation of power plants. ECE students can intern at All India Radio and BSNL.
Placement Experience
The biggest recruiter every year is TCS and there are also a host of other recruiters visiting the campus. While most of the companies visiting the campus are software related, there are a few companies related to core domain visiting the campus. Companies also recruit students through AMCAT scores. Students can also attend pool placement drives at VRSEC and KL University. The placements for 2014-2015 is 306 till date, which is a very good number.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are no scholarships offered by the college. All major banks offer education loans to students pursuing various courses in the college. The fees ranges around 60000 per annum and economically poor students are being offered fee waiver by the state government completely in the case of SC & ST students and 50% waiver in the case of General & OBC students.
Campus Life
The college does not have any hostel on campus, hence there is zero campus activity after working hours. The admission policy ensures that there is a healthy balance in the gender ratio. There is no diversity whatever and 99% of the students are native telugu speakers. The Hindu E-plus club plays an proactive role in extracurricular activities. There are sessions of quizzing, debating, dramatics etc everyday after the college hours. There is provision for playing volleyball, basketball, cricket, table tennis, badminton, chess in the college. Sports events are regularly organised. A gym with state of the art equipment is also operational on the campus.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network is not impressive and I barely had any interaction with my senior students.
