Doon University Campus honest review

The course is fine but as we don't get much opportunities for internships or placement that is a drawback that should be worked upon. We also don't have much experience in speaking while we speak with a native maybe and that makes is a little poor. The curriculum could be worked upon a bit because we don't get much experience or preparations for world applications. The frequency of exams are good but timings could improve as sometimes the paper could get lengthy with a limited time which makes it difficult to complete it.

The college rarely provides placement. The last year placement was out of 23 students from the previous batch only 3 got placed in Accenture for a package of around 14 LPA AND 1 got placed in Amazon for a package of around 6 LPA. Few others got placed somewhere but most are not employed yet. The other possible option could be masters if not employed

The semester fee for course is approx. 17000 per semester and i.e. around 35000 per year. The hostel fee is approx. 22000 per semester, i.e. around 40,000 per year. Scholarships are available for EWS and fees can be as low as around 10-20% for SC, ST, OBC and EWS.

There is no festival, less than twice a year. The accessibility of books are almost available, and can be issued for 15 days, after which not being returned a fine is put of around 10 rs. The classrooms have a projector and there are language labs with computer equipments which are well functioning. All kinds of sports are almost there with more focused on boys sports rather than girls which is again a drawback. And there are students run clubs, for singing, dancing, beat boxing/rapping, debating club and literature club and drama club, which provides new students an opportunity to express themselves and their talent and to connect with others

The hostel are okay, with the accompanying of two girls in a single room since first year. The rooms are still small as compared to two girls residing in. The menu quality is okay but the meal quality is poor mostly except for on festival when they make it better. The registration process for hostel is online/offline form filling and then some administrative work and it is quite affordable as compared to the facilities provided. The locality is also okay of you rent a room or pg, as it is a student friendly area

I did apply in JNU as it is one of the best colleges for language but I couldn't opt for it. I choose this because it was on my next priority option. The admission process is quite easy. The eligibility is around 75% in your 12th exams, and the access ment through entrance exam that this college has. We also go through an interview round with the faculty that basically is a formality but determines the result

The faculty are mostly young and around our age that makes them approachable. We also have native teachers and phd scholars. The teachers are friendly and helpful as well and they try to connect with each student as the number of students are quite less in our class. I like my HOD the best as he is someone who is very calm and helps us in the best of ways possible. Yearly there are four exams i.e. in a semester twice we give our exams that is one is a mid sem of 30 marks and the other it the end sem of 50 marks which make up to 80 marks in total and then we have a presentation or assignment of 20 marks which makes up to the total of 100. The exams are pretty moderate and could be scored well if studied. The marking scheme is lienent and we almost get good marks always if we do well in exams

The nightlife is not that huge but okay. The gyms are within boys and girls hostel closing off at around 8 in the night, with a single cafeteria closing off at 9 in the night and a central library which is being renovated again to a separate building closing off at 7. The public area is being closed off at 9. The hostel timings for girls hostel is around 9.30 and for the boys hostel it is not limited. There is no such famous hangout places inside the campus other than cafeteria and the benches within the premises and outside we have cafes around to hangout. The locality is quite safe to hangout around at night with locals being peaceful and aware of the students around and students friendly
