Doon University

The aspects that this is goverment university and quality as well as the experience of professors here is a great factor why I choose this course here. Also there university holds time to time exams mid terms after 3 months of start of semester and end terms at end of semester. One thing I feel could be improved is number of lectures taken of each course and specifically those of value added and skill enhancement courses. The university also provides different foreign language certificate courses which could be done along side your own degrres.

The placement cell of our university has been quite busy in recent years. Decent amount of companies are now coming to visit us . The local brands of dehradun also come to our university namely Decathlon marts taking management students. According to a recent report 75 to 80 pg students were placed last year in 2023. And the companies were Amazon, HCL technologies , ICICI Bank , Mercer, ITC limited Wipro etc. The average packages were 5 to 6 lakh per annum.

The year wise fees structure for BSc Mathematics (Hons and research) is 60,000 for the complete 3 year course.(tuition fees) One time admission fees to be paid is 7,000 ,this is admission and caution money which is refundable. Plus for application form Rs.800 is non refundable fees to be paid. While for SC AND STs the fees for application form is Rs 400. The Scholarship provided are Cheif Minister Scholarship provided on the basis of merit of per semester.

One annual fest(3 day) around the time of dipawali happens along with the igaas fest which is celebrated in our university. Then the annual sports fest including inter department sports competition happens which is must join event in our university as it gets really competitive and crowd support is also very impressive which makes you feel like you are playing On a professional level. Then concludes which Holi fest which is a 2 day fest including cultural events at night at playing with colours and water on next day . Alongside this our university has 5 major clubs of dance, music, theatre,art and craft and debating as well as quiz . These clubs are very active infact they keep holding short stage acts and inter department competition time to time . The highlights of our university is also the Gaura Devi national debate competition which invites contentors across the country.

The hostel for boys contains individual rooms the mess is in ground floor . The quality of food is at moderate level although it needs improvements in terms of hygiene. The mess committee set up in hostels by students decides upon the menu . Registration process for hostel starts just after the declaration of merit list. It is based on merit system . If one is not able to get hostels there are a number of pgs and rental room Available near University. At a walking distance from University gate one can easily get a room of pg. A place called the pg canteen is exactly at a distance of 1 km from University which provides good residence as well as great food .

I applied for Delhi University, BHU as well as JNU. The reason I didn't went there are in Delhi University I wasn't able to get the best colleges of North campus and in south campus residence as well as other expenses were out of my budget. The reason for not going to BHU were that I play professional cricket and I was having my state camp while I got admission in BHU throgh CUET but that somehow came into my camp timing. In case of JNU I wasn't able to get pass the cutoff. Our university takes admission based on entrance exam conducted by our own university and cut off is declared and students are enrolled on basis of them.

The faculty-to- student ratio of Doon University is 100 for 2000 which was last calculated. The faculty to student relation here is very easy going and the faculty members are always available to help students. Even the clerical department is also very helpful and available to students. The quality of teaching is far above average but could still be improved on a level of number of lectures taken The exams held on semester basis, NEP pattern is followed in our university internals also happen in form of presentation or assignment work. The course curriculum is reassuring and helpful even in preparation of competitive exams.

The hostels both boys hostel (Shivalik boys hostel) and both the girls hostel ( Alaknanda and Mandakini) includes mess service as well as basic gym equipments. Although it can surely be improved. The cafeteria serive is one which needs to be improved as variety and quality of food is not up to the marks. Library of our university is one feature which is good and regularly improving . It beholds a variety of books from curriculum to competitive exams and to fiction, novels biographies as well. The timing for boys hostel is 10 pm during Summers and 9 30 during winters the same goes for girls hostel as well. The hangout spots near our university are CSB (Chai sutta bar) , Start cup cafe , angeethi cafe, feel hungry cafe all of them are safe and surround places to be in . Inside college students like to chill out or wind there day by sitting near ground in our open air theater also has indoor courts where students play badminton and table tennis.
