- Campus life is not that great as there are many restrictions for outing.
Course Curriculum Overview
Since I'm pursuing Computer Science and Engineering here, my decision to take this course is due to my interest in the field and VIT's curriculum stays updated according to the current trends in the field (like we have introduced some new subjects like Computational Physics and Computational Chemistry which are new and needed to be learnt so that we can relate Physics and Chemistry to Technology. The exams are held almost in every 1-2 months and there are small tests taken by faculties in classes after ending every module/unit (which are evaluated for final marking too) and Projects, Activities and Assignments are given too.
Internships Opportunities
Companies like Amazon, TCS offered roles like Web Developer, Software developer, Data Analysts etc. to students with a stipend starting from INR 25,000 a month which is great start for students to develop more experience and knowledge in the field
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placements as the third year starts. There are about 600 companies who visited campus this year (2024) including Google, Cognizant, ,Wipro, Infosys, TCS etc. which have visited for campus placements and many job offers were made (I don't know the exact figures) but average stayed at 6-7 LPA and highest went to 55 LPA. Top roles are Web Developer, Software engineers, Data Analysts etc. I am polishing my skillset and preparing for placement in a good company
Fees and Financial Aid
Tution Fees:- Fees: 1,98,000 per year (For category 1) (increases as category increases) Caution Deposit: 3000 (refundable caution deposit for one time only) Hostel Fees (Mess fees included):- Admission Fees: 15,000 (non-refundable and for one time only) Caution Deposit: 15000 (refundable and one time only)
Campus Life
There are many events held here including cultural, innovative, sports, tech etc. and our iconic fest AdVITya which held once in a year where a iconic celebrity is invited and there are many events from cultural to technical happens. There is a great availability of books and journals in library. Classrooms are equipped with projectors, routers and latest techs which helps faculties and students to visualise concepts. There are 2 main sport events hosted one in summer another in winters. There are many clubs including non-technical and technical which helps students to gain knowledge and experience in working as a team.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilites are pretty good we're provided Wifi (24x7) but speed per device is capped to (1 to 1.2 MBps). Rooms are well furnished. Both hot and cold water is available 24x7 and toilets are hygienic too as it is frequently cleaned. Mess food quality is good and is above expectations, Yeah sometime food doesn't taste good but most of the time food is average-good... We have got variety of meals and have a fixed menu which includes Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks and Dinner for proper nutrition. For PG you have to go to Sehore or Ashta which is about 10 kms far from campus.
Admission
Since I've applied for VIT Vellore but due to high rank in VITEEE (Entrance Exam for admission in VIT) I got into VIT Bhopal. I've applied for HBTU (kanpur) but due to high rank in JEE Mains 2024 (120k) I wasn't eligible for CSE there so I ended up getting admitted into VIT Bhopal. I've got many options in other private colleges too but placements are pretty low there also there are many negative reviews about faculties and teaching there so I preferred this college. To get into VIT Bhopal you need to qualify VITEEE to get admitted into VIT Bhopal. The cutoffs are not very high but you need rank below 40k to get CSE in Category 1 here. After clearing the exam a E-Counselling Process takes place where you can fill available choices for all 4 campuses and you will be alloted if your rank meets the eligibilty criteria
Faculty
There are about 230+ faculty members in the campus and there are about 10-12 thousand students here so faculty-to-student ratio is about 50 students per faculty. Almost all the faculties are highly qualified and are very supportive but a few are rude to students (sometimes). As I am a fresher so I have not met to many facultie but few of them like Dr. Vinod Kumar Jatav (Phd in Mathematics from NIT Surat and MSc from IIT Guwahati) who teaches Mathematics to us is a great faculty, his concepts are crisp and clear to me and he's very supportive too. Other ones like Dr. P. Vayunandakishore (Physics), Dr. Arindum Sadhukhan (EEE) are also great faculties. As I've said I'm a fresher here so I didn't found any faculty to dislike soo... :) There are 2 main exams in a semester: Mid-Term (MM:50)- This exam covers half of syllabus Term-End (MM:150)- This exam covers whole syllabus As exams are held shiftwise so their difficulties varies from Easy to Hard but mostly exam is easy-moderate. In most of the subjects students gets passed easily but in subjects like Maths, many students fail to clear the exam. Most of the faculties offer marks for steps (if done as faculty taught in the class) so even if your answer is wrong (in subjects like Maths, Physics, EEE etc.) but if you've written steps correctly you will get marks.
Night Life
Since there are restrictions for outing, we have to take permission from our proctor for outing and it is permitted for limited hours (from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM). There are gyms in campus which opens in mornings and evening and stays open for whole week. There are cafeterias in Academic Block and hostels both but for Academic Block it's opened till 7:00 PM and in hostels it is opened till 8:45 PM. The classes are held from 8:30 AM to 7:30 PM, Sundays and mostly Saturdays are off. Hostel Timings are from 6:00 AM to 9:30 PM after that hostel gates are closed and students are not permitted to go out. Since college is far from core cities we have to take a bus to make it to Bhopal (75 kms) or Indore (125 kms) which have many places to visit. Overall campus life is average but it trails by many colleges :(
Other Applied Colleges
Vellore Institute of Technology - [VIT University] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Didn't got enough rank in VITEEE to qualify for Vellore Campus
