Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course is relevant enough, i feel like it should be updated and matched with the ongoing scenario but its still ok. Some of specific aspects that made me choose this course are acccounting as a subject and law too. The curriculum if studied properly will prepare one well enough for further academic pursuances and real world too. So its good thing. The course curriculum should focus on removing things that are too old and irrelevant for current scenario. Teaching method is okay but if the classes had smart boards in half instead of a projector, then it would have been more better. Class tests are held weekly for subjects and then internals are conducted but main exams are conducted at the end of the semester. Timing for internals are 1 hour and main end sem exams are 3 hours.

Internships Opportunities

4

Sri Venkateswara College provides diverse internship opportunities through its Placement Cell and departmental societies, connecting students with leading firms like KPMG, EY, and Deloitte for roles in audit, consulting, and taxation, often with stipends ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 per month. Startups like Internshala and organizations like Teach for India offer positions in marketing, content creation, and social outreach, typically with stipends of Rs5,000 to Rs10,000. Media agencies like Times Internet provide internships in digital marketing and PR. Students work on real-world projects such as audits, marketi ng campaigns, and social initiatives, gaining valuable skills and professional exposure.

Placement Experience

3

Placements are quite good here. A rise of nearly 35% was recorded in the total offers made in 2022 placements when compared with 2021 The highest package offered in 2022 increased by almost 11% when compared with 2021. From 2nd semester i guess, students become eligible for placements. 200+ offers were made and companies like accenture, kpmg and deloitte visited. The highest package was of 21.50 lakh and average is 6.58 lakh. My plan after getting the degree is not yet decided.

Fees and Financial Aid

I paid 20775Rs for my first year if i remember correctly for bcom hons course. I heard from some seniors that the fees has increased from last year. Other than that theres exam fees which I'm yet to pay so i dont know how much is it. I think fees is same for all categories here. There is a freeship scheme which was going on recently.

Campus Life

4

Sri Venkateswara College (Venky) offers a vibrant and fulfilling campus life that balances academics with a wide range of social and extracurricular activities. The college is known for its lively student community, with numerous societies and clubs catering to different interests. From Nrityangana (Dance Society) and Moksha (Music Society) to DebSoc (Debating Society) and Enactus SVC, students have plenty of opportunities to explore their passions, develop skills, and connect with like-minded peers. The college’s cultural fest, Nexus, is one of the most anticipated events of the year, usually held in February or March. It features energetic performances, competitions, and even celebrity acts, making it a highlight for students and visitors alike. Technical and departmental fests organized by societies like the Computer Science Society add to the dynamic campus culture, offering hackathons, workshops, and innovation challenges. The library is a standout feature, with an impressive collection of academic books, journals, and digital resources. Access to platforms like JSTOR and DU’s digital library ensures that students have the tools they need for in-depth research and study. The library also provides quiet study spaces and computer access, making it a preferred spot for serious learners. Classrooms are well-equipped with modern technology, including projectors and comfortable seating, creating a conducive environment for learning. Sports facilities are another strong point, with options for cricket, football, basketball, and indoor games. Regular sports meets and events ensure students have an outlet for physical fitness and team-building. Student-run clubs and societies are at the heart of Venky’s campus life. They create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere, helping students discover their potential and make lifelong memories. Whether you're interested in cultural pursuits, academics, or volunteering, there’s something for everyone at Sri Venkateswara Colleg

Admission

This college is very good compared to other colleges. It is literally called the SRCC of south campus. The crowd here is very good, every students gets to learn something new from here. I coudnt make up to other colleges because i guess i procrastinated during my cuet prep which caused marks to get down for me. The admission process for every college of DU including mine is through the CUET exam.

Faculty

3

The faculty is quite okayish i would say. Its not very high level of professors but also not very bad. The course structure is like its of 3 years after that we get option to continue for the 4th year and get a degree in research. Theory exam is of 90 marks and practical is 70 marks which consists of continous assesment, discpline, attendance, internal assessment and class tests. Faculty to student are quite open and approachable and we can talk about stuff with them. Its ok. There are 7 exams but if the SEC and VAC subjects are opted practical ones then they dont have end sems for these. I havent given any exams so i dont really know the difficulty level of exam.

Night Life

3

Nightlife around Sri Venkateswara College revolves around the bustling student hub of Satya Niketan, known for its affordable cafes like Big Yellow Door (BYD), Echoes, and QD’s, where students unwind after classes. While on-campus facilities like the library, cafeteria, and gym close by early evening (5:30–7:00 PM), and hostel curfews are strict around 9:00 PM, the surrounding areas offer plenty of options. Students often head to Select Citywalk or DLF Saket for movies and shopping, or to Hauz Khas Village for a more vibrant nightlife scene with pubs and live music. Late-night walks at India Gate or small gatherings in PGs are also common. The locality is generally safe, though students are advised to travel in groups at night, making the mix of social spots and secure surroundings a key part of the Venky experience.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well i choose this course because I didn't got what I wanted. Many students are from arts background who got this course because they had no option. The curriculum is same as school all chapters and everything. The law section is new. About buisness and law and everything. Rest is same. Changes in curriculum is not in their hands. But if they could actually change the accounting syllabus. The timing of exams is normal 2:30 to 6:30. And internal test taken by perspective teacher are according to their time and class. They will take retest incase you didn't attended.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I really was interested in finance and taxation from the beginning. This course aligned rightly with my interests. The curriculum is based on real world applications. Corporate accounting, financial accounting, company law, human resource management, these are very important considering change in the job market and business world. Not only real world applications but one can also go for further academic pursuit such as a master's degree and research. This makes the curriculum really diverse. Some areas of suggestions would be that in theory subjects there should be practical activities. Just like vestibular training. The time of exams is just right. After the completion of syllabus of a particular subject, we are given 10 days of preparation leave. The exams are moderate and it really tests our ability and knowledge based on our studies.

For placements fifth semester student are eligible for placements. Since it is best commerce college. Companies like big 4, google, bank of America, Goldman Sachs, bcg, bain and co., Sbi, paytm, meesho and many more comes. The highest package was 36 LPA this year from meesho for senior analyst roles. Average package is 10 LPA. Most of the placements take place in consulting, marketing, auditing, finance and analyst roles. Around more than 50% of the students get placed. My plan is to take placements in consulting and finance roles after the degree from the college.

The placement of my college is good if you perform well in the process of selection, as I told earlier, the placement cell is pretty active, so you would have a good number of options. I will be naming the good companies that visited my college, they were EY, Deloitte, DE SHAW, TCS, KPMG, etc. Numerous offers were made and I would say over 80% students in my batch got placed in good companies.

In open learning management.. they provide hard copy of books tk prepare whole semester and this is a very good thing because those books are covering whole semester in some books only and there is a v good thing I found... At the end of every chapter they provide summaries and mock questions for every chapter to analyse the weakness and strength. the areas for improvements in the Course Curriculum and Teaching Methods--- they should also provide a mock test paper as per the paper model and latest questions or updated topics with to the point topics The difficulty is normal if candidate is completely prepared...
