Remarks
IIT BHU is situated in the heart of Banaras. You will experience a whole new world in that city while completing your engineering from one of the most prestigious and oldest college in India. People are friendly and college is very chill.
Course Curriculum Overview
I was studying Chemical Engineering in IIT BHU (VAranasi). We had semester pattern. Usually six subjects in each semester. Course Curriculum was very crisp but a little out-dated. We used to have 2 unit test and 2 main exams in each semester.
Placement Experience
Public as well as private firms come to our campus for summer internship as well as for final job placements. Interns are paid somewhere around 20,000 per month while average salary in our college for final placement is around 10,00,000 rupees.
College Events
We have socio-cultural event called Kashiyatra celebrated every year in college. While Technex is our annual technical fest. Apart from that we conduct TEDxIITBHU as well as IIT BHU MUN every year in our campus.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Very feasible. General candidates have to pay around 1 lakh per year and reserved category students around 25k per year. Hostel fees is included in the main fees. We also have to pay 12,000 per semester as our mess fee.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yes there are scholarships offered on the basis of our scores in exams and your IIT JEE Advance rank. Also there are various scholarships offered to students of reserved categories and also few scholarships for financially weak students.
Campus Life
Our college is one of the best college in extra curricular activities. We have 4 main councils for sports, drama, science and media related activities. Each councils have around 8-9 clubs which carry out different activities round the year.
Hostel Facilities
Yes IIT BHU students have to opt for hostel compulsorily. Hostels were old but campus was full of trees. Also many new hostels are under construction they are having better toilets. Each hostel has its separate mess and canteen.
Alumni/Alumna
While IIT BHU is relatively new college. Engineering at BHU started in 1918. So we have a really strong alumni base. Seniors are very helpful. They help you prepare yourself for the outside world. And they also help you find right internships.
Admission
On the basis of IIT JEE Advance Score. We have to first appear for IIT JEE Mains then selected students are selected for Advance. And then selected students can select their preferred college and branch.
Faculty
IIT BHU was earlier IT BHU so majority of the staff don't have an IIT Degree. But they did had a vast experience in teaching. We also had 75% compulsory attendance rule in our chemical department and also other departments.
