Likes
- The College infrastructure is quite descent. The classroom has enough space for about 100 students. In our Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Department about 180 students are studying in our batch.
- The laboratory is the actual place where everyone is curious to know and learn about various instruments and how to operate them.There is also wi-fi available in our laboratory. There is also library available in our college.
- The teachers were very supportive and helpful. They are always ready to give advice us about our academic as well as personal life. They also visit our hostel often time and help us clearing our doubts. The teaching quality is very good.
Dislikes
- The labs are not modernized. There are old instruments which doesn't work properly. So, sometimes it gives error even though we do our experiments in the right way. There is no proper playground area near our hostel.
- So, students are not getting much exposure to sports activities. Another big problem is the hostel food. We don't get enough food for improvement of our health and also the hygiene of the food is also very bad.
Course Curriculum Overview
I have taken admission in VSSUT, Burla in 2023 and by 2027 i will be graduated. Like every JEE aspirants I have also dreamt of clearing the JEE advance exam and to go to IIT or NIT. But I couldn't get enough marks in my JEE mains examination to qualify for IIT or NIT. So, I took admission in VSSUT, Burla which is the oldest college in Odisha and as it is my home state so it is quite easy to adapt in this college. I took admission in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering course which is a prestigious branch in VSSUT, Burla. It gives me opportunities to go in different industries like Electronics, IT sector companies and Telecommunication industry. l wish there should be given emphasize and priority to skill development in the course. Yes , Our Course curriculum prepares us for industrial work and real world applications. We can also prepare for GATE examination and pursue further academic degree M.Tech. The difficulty of the semester exam is medium. The pass percentage of end semester exam is 35 percentage for Theoy paper and for laboratory the passing percentage is 50 percentage. We are given about 1.5 hours for mid term exam and 2.5 hours for end semester exam. In the lab exam we get about 15-20 minutes. There is no gap in the mid term examination. But in end semester exam we get 1 day gap between the exam of each subject.
Internships Opportunities
Students get internships from companies like Hindalco, Nalco, AICTE , MCL , Ultratech, Cisco, ISRO , DRDO , Maven Silicon, TCS , Tata Motors, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited , OHPC , SAIL , TATA Power, BSNL, Vodafone Idea Limited, Amazon, JSW , Indian Railway, TATA Steel etc. They also get stipend for these internships. In our Electronics and Telecommunication branch we are assigned a teacher as our mentor. About 10 students comes under the mentorship of each teacher. The teacher helps us in our project work and gives us advice about the internship and placement interview which is very helpful for us.
Placement Experience
From 6th semester students become eligible for campus placements. There are about 900 students in our batch,from which about 50% to 60% students get campus placement. Average package offered in our course is about 3,00,000 to 4,00,000. Students of core branches like Electrical, Mechanical and Electronics get package about 11,00,000 to 12,00,000. Tata, Hyundai and JSW are top recruiting companies in our college. Students from our college are doing internships in DRDO, Tata and other companies. They even get manager roles in the companies. My aim is to get a job in chip manufacturing companies like Marquee Semiconductor , Nvidia etc.

Campus Life
The College campus is very awesome. Every year there are conducted technical and cultural fest named as Vassaunt and Samavesh. In the previous year we celebrated our first college fest. It held for 3 days. We enjoyed a lot in the fest. These fests are the days when everyone enjoyed with their heart without the burden of academic pressure and all other things. I have made a lot of friends till now. We do extra curricular activities like dancing,singing and acting. The College infrastructure is quite descent. There is also library available in our college. There are books available related to our academic studies and also novels and books for higher studies are available in our laboratory. There is a playground available near our college campus, where sports like cricket football are played. There are also badminton courts, Volleyball courts , Kabaddi courts and Table tennis courts available for students. There are also several clubs formed in our college. There are basically two types of clubs. One is Technical clubs likeIEEE , E-Cell , Robotics, Aerotech , ASME , VEER Racers , Enigma. Other is Cultural clubs like Souls, Vibranz etc. We do projects and researchs in our club, Which gives practical exposure to various things.
Hostel Facilities
I am currently a 2nd year student. We live in Agastya Hall Of Residence, which has the best infrastructure among all the boys hostel. There are badminton court and kabaddi court available inside the hostel. But mess experience in our hostel is not quite good. We did not get enough food for our body and the hygiene of the food is also very bad. The Hostel fees is about 48,000 per annum. During our college admission process we have to fill a form that whether we have to live in hostel or not.By that process we are accomodated to hostel. In our hostel , 4 students are accommodating in each room. There are 2 fans available in our room and 4 study table and 4 chairs are available. There is a window for each room and there is enough light available for our room. There is also rented rooms available in the locality for students who are not staying in college provided hostel.
Admission

As I have decided to go in Electronics domain so I had applied for both Electronics and Telecommunication branch in Veer Surendra Sai University Of Technology,Burla & Electronics and Instrumentation branch in Odisha University of Technology and Research University, Bhubaneswar (formerly known as CET Bhubaneswar). In the final round of OJEE Councelling I got Electronics and Telecommunication branch in VSSUT, Burla. Students have to appear JEE mains examination conducted by Central Government or OJEE exam by state government to get admission in our college. The minimum cutoff for general category students in our college is about rank 5,00,000 in JEE or rank 5000 in OJEE. To get admission in our Electronics and Telecommunication branch the minimum cutoff rank is 1,10,000.
Faculty
The teachers were very supportive and helpful. They are always ready to give advice us about our academic as well as personal life. They also visit our hostel often time and help us clearing our doubts. The teaching quality is very good. Yes, it makes students industry ready and the course curriculum is relevant to industry work. There are enough facilities for teaching the students. There are 4 main types of exams in a year. 2 end semester examination and two mid term exams. Also Teachers conduct class tests and quiz tests for teacher assessment marks. There is also conducted lab examination. Lab exam is based on lab viva , lab experiments and lab record. The difficulty of the semester exam is medium. The pass percentage of end semester exam is 35 percentage for Theoy paper and for laboratory the passing percentage is 50 percentage. In our batch, last year, about 95 percent students were able to clear the examination. For the fail students there is also conducted back paper examination.
Night Life
I am currently a 2nd year student. We live in Agastya Hall Of Residence, which has the best infrastructure among all the boys hostel. We did not get enough food for our body and the hygiene of the food is also very bad. There is also a gym available in our hostel. There are also various types of gym instruments available in the gym. In the College campus 2-3 Cafeterias are available. Also a canteen is available in the campus. The College timing is from 9 am to 5 pm everyday except Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday the College timing is from 9 am to 1 pm and Sunday is the holiday. There is a lunch break from 1 am to 3 pm. There is restriction in our hostel. After 8 pm no one can get outside the hostel. Near our college there is Hirakum dam which is suitable for hangout in free time.
