Easy admission process and everything is online and hassle free
IGNOU's study centers are all across india which is good for those students who are pursuing other courses as well
Variety of courses are available for all types of fields

Dislikes

Their Website and Technical support could use some improvement
Many whatsapp groups are created claiming that it's official whatsapp group of IGNOU but in reality many of them are just scamming you by tricking into getting paid handwritten assignments
Study material quality is not good but for the course fees it is manageable

Course Curriculum Overview

I wanted to pursue this course as i wanted a background in accounting and finance , BCOM is the perfect course offered by IGNOU . This curriculum is the basic requirement for any job related to finance sector Irrelevant subjects like EVS and value education are not really needed in this curriculum The frequency of exams is only once a year and which is at a quite moderate level .

Class Size: 100Course Fees: INR 5000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearly fees of Indira Gandhi National Open University is just 5000/- rupees for Bachelors in Commerce (BCOM) . There is no caution fees as the whole course is ODL (Open Distance Learning) Scholarship for the tution fees is also available for students which is based on their merit performance . The fees is extremely affordable and ideal for those students who are pursuing professional courses like Chartered Accountancy .

Campus Life

There are no festivals as the whole college is a platform for online / distance learning . The study material is sent to the students by post and it is also available online on IGNOU's official website . Each student is provided with their own username and password for regular updates and re- registration As there is no campus life , sadly there is no sports and extracurricular activties offered. There is no way for a student to actually socialise with their collegemates , which i believe is an essential part of college life but it's okay as everyone chooses IGNOU for their online learning /distance learning platform.

Admission

I did not apply to any other colleges as IGNOU was the perfect choice for my career ahead The admission process of this college is very simple and there is no eligibility criteria for admission , but scholarships can be availed on the basis of the merit of the students .

Faculty

The whole course is Open Distance Learning so the students don't interact with the faculty but there are recorded lectures available which are great for exams. The faculty teaching in the lectures are quite experienced and their teaching skills are also great . The accounts faculty is the best . As such there is no dislike for any faculty . There is one term end exam for each semester and the exam level is moderate . The failing ratio of students is quite less as the exams aren't that tough . The course curriculum is quite relevant except a few subjects as being a BCOM student I don't think that I need to study Enviromental Studies as a subject and i consider it as totally irrelavant , except that everything else is fine

Night Life

There is absolutely no campus life for students and therfore no cafeterias,library, public area, gym etc. Students don't have to live in hostels as they can pursue their course from any city in india .

Shyam lal college not on my wishlist

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well i choose this course because I didn't got what I wanted. Many students are from arts background who got this course because they had no option. The curriculum is same as school all chapters and everything. The law section is new. About buisness and law and everything. Rest is same. Changes in curriculum is not in their hands. But if they could actually change the accounting syllabus. The timing of exams is normal 2:30 to 6:30. And internal test taken by perspective teacher are according to their time and class. They will take retest incase you didn't attended.

Underrated College- An honest opinion

Course Curriculum Overview:

I really was interested in finance and taxation from the beginning. This course aligned rightly with my interests. The curriculum is based on real world applications. Corporate accounting, financial accounting, company law, human resource management, these are very important considering change in the job market and business world. Not only real world applications but one can also go for further academic pursuit such as a master's degree and research. This makes the curriculum really diverse. Some areas of suggestions would be that in theory subjects there should be practical activities. Just like vestibular training. The time of exams is just right. After the completion of syllabus of a particular subject, we are given 10 days of preparation leave. The exams are moderate and it really tests our ability and knowledge based on our studies.

All about SRCC life, exposure, placements, faculty and my experience

Placement Experience:

For placements fifth semester student are eligible for placements. Since it is best commerce college. Companies like big 4, google, bank of America, Goldman Sachs, bcg, bain and co., Sbi, paytm, meesho and many more comes. The highest package was 36 LPA this year from meesho for senior analyst roles. Average package is 10 LPA. Most of the placements take place in consulting, marketing, auditing, finance and analyst roles. Around more than 50% of the students get placed. My plan is to take placements in consulting and finance roles after the degree from the college.

There is a proper placement cell for this which is very active. Prepare for government exams (SSC, UPSC, etc.) Go for higher education (PG, B.Ed., MBA, etc.) Enroll in skill-based or professional certification courses outside college

Dyal Singh College: The Good, The Bad and The Confusing

Placement Experience:

The placement of my college is good if you perform well in the process of selection, as I told earlier, the placement cell is pretty active, so you would have a good number of options. I will be naming the good companies that visited my college, they were EY, Deloitte, DE SHAW, TCS, KPMG, etc. Numerous offers were made and I would say over 80% students in my batch got placed in good companies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In open learning management.. they provide hard copy of books tk prepare whole semester and this is a very good thing because those books are covering whole semester in some books only and there is a v good thing I found... At the end of every chapter they provide summaries and mock questions for every chapter to analyse the weakness and strength. the areas for improvements in the Course Curriculum and Teaching Methods--- they should also provide a mock test paper as per the paper model and latest questions or updated topics with to the point topics The difficulty is normal if candidate is completely prepared...

My view regarding my college

Remarks:

Academically you can choose it but if you are looking for some fancy institution with some best infrastructure and fancy canteen I won't suggest you this college. But this college has one of the very best cricket team and one of our student named Mayank dagar is leading Indian National under-19 team. So I think you understand the impact.

"Convenient and recognised distance learning"

I choose IGNOU because it offers affordable and flexible education compared to many regular colleges in signal is a recognise centre University it's degree is valid across India in the low fees structure made it the practical option for me the flexibility to study from home and the manage other responsibility was the main desert I prefer IGNOU over other colleges I had considered near by regular colleges as well but their fever much higher and the required which was not suitable for me from my situation IGNOU provides could study material I structure syllabus and the option to appear in exam at can be and centres which made it a better choice the admission process online I fill out the application without any difficulty the confirmation was received within a few days and the process was smooth and translation without any difficulty overall IGNOU was the best choice for me because of its affordability flexibility and recognised degree making higher education accessible and convenient....Read More

All about IGNOU

I applied only to this college because of its flexibility ( you can choose your exam centre anywhere in India), affordability and degree recognition, not because it was my dream college. I didn't applied to any other college. The eligibility for admission is based on minimun academic qualification like 10+2 for UG programs. Only some professional programs may have entrance exam but for general UG/PG none are needed. no competitive cut offs admission is fully online and transparent with minimal paperwork....Read More
