Overall Review Of GIETU

As I am a computer science student with specialization Artificial intelligence and Machine learning , the subjects being provided by the college are totally relevant to the trade I have chosen. But there are some subjects like diet and nutrition and human values which I think are not very relevant to be included in this course. Apart from that we have English subjects that teach us about professionalism and the way to deal with corporate life along with balancing the personal life . The exams that are mentioned above occur in there scheduled times and the difficulty level increases after cycle test 1.

Many companies collaborate with our college to help us get internship but for most of them we have to pay. There are very rare companies that Collab with our college and give us stipend. After doing the internship we have to provide the certificate of project completion to the college as a proof of doing the internship. And while doing the internship , most of the companies give us atleast 2 or more than 2 projects.

The campus placement rate is very high and frequent in GIET . From 6th semester students get eligible to attend placements according to their cgpa. And for this we are being provided with training and placement classes which start from the 2nd semester only. And for this class , teachers from many corners of the country are hired . And they are very efficient and focus on teaching from the placement point of view. Many companies such as Accenture , IBM , Tech Mahindra , Zscaler, Deloitte and many other companies come to our college to hier students from different branches according to the posts . The average package offered is 4lpa and the highest is 29 lpa . Almost 85-90 % students get placed and the rest 10% who fail to get placement are hired by the companies for sales . My aim is to get placed before getting the degree as the placement starts from 6th semester itself. And after getting the degree I would like to work for the company and alongside pursue M tech .

I am paying 2,41,000 in total per year and I am currently pursuing a 4 year program in which in two semesters are there in a year . So per semester I am paying 1,20,500 in which the hostel fee per semester is 40,500 and the course fee per semester is 80000 . I am getting a scholarship of 20000 yearly under the post matric scholarship program. Those who are studying in other branches in my batch are paying comparatively less than what I am paying.

The Annual tech fest is called as Shrujan. And the department wise fest have different names according to the respective departments. As I am from computer science department our department tech fest is known as Abhyakt . Almost each and every book related to our syllabus is available in the library and the library is open 24/7 . Apart from that the library has books and magazines on current affairs and general knowledge and biographies and autobiographies and newspapers are supplied each day to the library. All the sports activities and extra curricular activities take place just before the annual tech fest that is Shrujan . And the participants are provided with attendance for the classes they were absent to maintain 80% attendance criteria. There are many clubs that are related to the respective departments. They play the biggest role in conducting the events as well as workshops and competitions .

Hostel facility is pretty good as we get rooms for 2 , 3 , 4 and 6 according to our allotment . Apart from that the most controversial part is that we are not allowed to keep any electrical items such as induction , pressing iron etc which makes a hosteller's life a bit hectic. Our meal quality is average also . So due to all these problems most of the hostellers prefer to live outside by renting a room .

I had applied for many colleges within Odisha as well as outside Odisha. But the main reason I chose this college was because of its location as well as its placement rate . I get a very calm environment in this college appropriate for pursuing my study as well as the fees structure is pretty good as compared to the other colleges offering the same course. The admission process is also pretty simple as we just have to be present there during the admission with our respective parents and the faculties who are in charge of admission help us to get through all the procedures to get ourselves admitted and this process takes only a time period of 3 to 4 hours and the next day only we get our I'd cards and after that we become eligible to enjoy all the facilities being provided by the college .

For each and every subject there are a plenty of facilities alloted and there response towards us is what makes them very special . I like many faculties. Some of them are Mr. Murli Krishna Senapati , Mr. Rakesh Sahu and many more. In a semester majorly 3 exams are conducted including cycle test 1 and 2 and the end sem exam. But before cycle test 1, class test 1 is conducted and before cycle test 2 , class test 2 is conducted . Most of the students fail to pass cycle test 2 for which they have to appear recycle test in the next semester .

After 7:30 pm all the boys residing inside the campus are able to enjoy as per their choice. We have paid canteen and cool parlour that offers snacks and shops in the main square where you could refresh yourself with soda and other drinks along with evening snacks such a burgers and other things. Also we have a grocery store there for the hostellers. And we boys have access to gym and swimming pool but they are time bound .
