My honest review regarding IIEST SHIBPUR

As a 1 st year student, my honest review reagrding circullum is hectic. for example, as a first year student,I joined IIEST in August 11,2024. We have classes o f one and half month then they have conducted midsem, after midsem we have got 10 days holidays ,after that again 1 month clases, we had our end sem.Now they have given 1 month holidays after end sem.So, here clearly u can see that the number of classes are low and frequently we are getting our exams..

Presently, I'm in the first year of the college so , I don't know clearly about these internships. But as far my seniors said that the internships start from 3 rd year and often recently seen many of my seniors who are appearing for internship interviews in my college.

See, campus placements are not too good or too worst for the brach of mechanical engineering at IIEST. As per my seniors said, there are descent placements for our department at IIEST like average salary is 12 LPA and it totally depends on the student,there are some students who got placed for 30,40,50 LPA also in our college.

As of my knowledge for the academic year 2024-25 , Fee structure of an obc student whose annual income is below 1 lakh is, Hostel fees-29500/-per semester Collges fees-4000/- per semester Refundable security deposit -4000/- (one time payment) Total-38000/- (nearly )

Impetus is the annual departmental fest of mechanical engineering,IIEST SHIBPUR. Instruo is the annual technical fest of the college IIEST SHIBPUR. Rebecca is the cultural fest of IIIEST SHIBPUR. Kriti is the fest focussing of creative activities.

We will be provided any one of the hostel in 8,9 or 10.Everone in the first year gets 4 sharing room with 1 bed,1 study table and 1 almarah for each.There will common washroom facility for the whole floor with 1 washing machine each. Mess food is not upto the mark for non bengali students like me because the way of cooking is diiferent here . Breakfast is limited but lunch and dinner is unlimited. U have to compromise with the taste and quality for these 4 years here. Here the food is good some days and worst in some days and the menu of the mess food is totally depends on the mess manager of the hostel who is elected by the students of that hostel. Regarding the registration of the hostel will be done one the admission day and while fees is paid through digital payments only and they don't accept hand cash at all.

My main reason for choosing this college is the cutoff of this college.It is the only decent NIT having low cutoff for all branches in India. This collge is one of the oldest engineering collge in India which built in the time of British. According to my jee mains percentile, I can't get mechanical engineering branch in top 15 nits excpet IIEST, so that I preferred IIEST to purse my dream of becoming an mechanical engineer

In our college the faculity member's are not in good numbers, there is scarcity of faculity member's.For example , I am studying in first year and in my class some of our teachers who teaches us as well as 2nd and 4th year also. The teacher who teaches us physics is the placement officer for our seniors.By this, clearly we can say there are no set of teachers who specifically teach for first year rather there are mixed teachers, who teaches more than 1 year.

There is a gym with free of cost for both boys and girls. There are many canteens like student canteen, Institute canteen, cafeteria and many more fast food centres ouetside and nearby the college. There is a big central library for all the students at IIEST SHIBPUR. There are 3 hostels for 1 st year named hostel 8,9,10 and the timings of my hostel 8 is 5:00AM to 10:00PM. Here timing of your respective hostel varies according to the students wish and thse are decided by the JCMR of that respective hostel.
