As every other government college, the first year covers courses from many branches, as a first year it is very easy and good, the exams are also easy, can score above 8 cgpa if you study atleast 2 week prior to exams.

Sc and st:- tution fee is waived, only mess and hostel fee, approx 29000 rupees Below 1 lakh annual income : same as above Between 1 to 5 lakhs annual income, 2/3rd of tution fee is waived, mess and hostel should be paid in full, amounting to 71000 Above 5 lakhs: total fee is 100000 These are breakdowns for 1 semester

In first semester or odd semester (1,3,5,7) there won't be any big fests usually, in even semester we have an annual and technical fest known as Rebecca, in month of January, and after that we will have departmental fests till March. I don't know the journals available in library as a first year I don't find them any useful.but many academic text books are available. Alongside many academic books there are good number of books which shows different viewpoints on theories and explain things of academic but can't be considered as text, only as a reference books. We have projectors in every room, along with the facilities of wifi, purified drinking water, and some rooms have digital boards. The sports clubs are very extensive in range, we have 3 grounds, all of them are big enough and good enough. There are 17 clubs, ranging from musical instruments to robotics, run by the students. They are very useful and gives technical experience.

I applied for many colleges from the list of nits, which have metallurgy branch in them, and relatively older colleges were my priority. This college was a coincidence, I didn't know that it was established in 1854, very old. But my branch was established in the clg in the 1950s considerably good. As for other colleges, I didn't apply for any other private institutions, I only wrote jee mains and advanced for college entrance tests. Admission process was simple, after some verification of documents, we were given id cards and later that day if we want hostel then we can apply for it.

The faculty to student ratio is considered good, they are friendly and very approachable. There are only 2 important exams in a semester, mid and end, mid is for 30 marks, end is for 50 marks, internals is 20, for theory subjects, in practical, for different labs, there will be different breakdown between, internals, viva, practical, lab copy. These are very dynamic, always in hands of teachers so I can't exactly say as the breakdown given by seniors do not match ours

Gym, has strict timings for boys and girls, for boys morning 6 to 7 and evening 4 30 to 6 Library is opened till 12 in night from Monday to Friday, on sat and Sunday it is open till 4 pm, and we can't issue books on sat and Sunday. Remaining all public area which have entry do not have restrictions on timings. Hostel for first years is very strict, from morning 7 to 7 In evening at very first, later they were 6am to 9pm. Campus, it depends on teachers, if you have teacher with you working on something particular then we are allowed with their permission. Usually classes are from morning 9 to 4 30 in Evening. As the college is in howrah, very near to Kolkata, all the famous localities are good for hanging outside the clg, inside, there are 3 cafeterias and oval ground, along with amenities hall, are very good placeses to hangout inside the clg. Inside the college it is safe, outside it is unknown, but it should be safe around the surroundings
